The minute you typed "alcohol" I realized then it isn't so unusual.
Portrayed on the show, it sounded like some magic drug.
Timothy Leary when he was still legit used LSD on alcoholics, and
initially the results were quite good. The contradiction of LSD has
always been that it got "loose" because they were testing it on all
kinds of people, and once it had been tasted, people wanted it again,
for other than the study purposes. I'd have to dig out the books, maybe
that one from Sandoz has some of the studies, to remember how it
affected alcoholics.
When the episode was on, I caught the bit about "hallucinations" or
whatever was said to the kid before the drug was administered, but
I didn't make the connection. So surely this was a result of
the nominal success with LSD.
