How does the good Doc leave the show? Monday to Friday we have Dr Olivet as
the Psychiatrist - but Sunday nights we have the male Psychiatrist (who I
STILL don't know the name of). It's just like the other unexplained cast
changes.
Can somebody fill me in on this please? :)

Sunday nights? You mean on Special Victims Unit? Olivet
never formally "left". She was never on SVU, as far as I can recal..
On the regular Law and Order, Olivet just wasn't there at the
beginning of the season, and they had a new guy, Emil Skoda, played by
JK Simmons.
On, L&O: SVU, the asian american doctor is George Huang,
played by BD Wong. If I'm not mistaken--and please correct me if I
am--he's been on SVU since the start.

You've got it all right except for the last bit. BD Wong took over for
Skoda when JK Simmons was filming Spider-man, but he was the SVU shrink in
the beginning.

It is interesting that Munch didn't confuse her as being Linda Mariner, a
woman he ran into during his days in Baltimore. McCormick played a
character in the '96 Homicide two parter: "Sniper." Of course L&O and
Homicide take place in the same "world". This creates a Frank Lehrman/Lenny
Briscoe type problem.

Carolyn McCormick, who played Elizabeth I believe left "L & O" after season
seven to do a series called "Cracker" on ABC (she was not a full-time member of
the "L & O" cast by that point), but then returned for the two-part season nine
finale ("Refuge"), where she tried to help a kid who witnessed a crime by the
Russian Mob (in which an ADA who had previously worked with Abbie was killed).
She then returned again in the second episode of season 10 ("Killerz"), where
Elizabeth a memorable showdown with Skoda over a 10-year old who had killed a
boy (she worked for the defense in this episode). Ms. McCormick was very much
pregnant in real life when "Killerz" was filmed, and that in fact was where
some of us tried to figure out who was the father of Elizabeth's baby. Based on
things that happened in older episodes and because of the way you could piece a
timeline together, I thought it could be Ben Stone, with if that was the case
their marrying some time well after he left the DA's Office (Ben and Elizabeth
seemed to "look out for each other" quite a bit after Elizabeth was raped in
season three's "Helpless" and Ben put away the doctor who did it, even if it
wasn't for her rape).
After that, as noted, Elizabeth (McCormick) was also in three "SVU" episodes,
most notably season two's "Baby Killer."

Sorry, sloppy punctuation on my part . . . JK Simmons (Skoda) was the
shrink on SVU in the beginning of the series. He worked on both shows for
at least the first season of SVU, maybe even a little longer.
