I just heard on the radio news that four sex offenders pled before the
US Supreme Court regarding laws that prohibit them from living within
2000 yards of schools etc.. It limits them from living in large cities.

It's before the California Supreme Court regarding Jessica's Law and
it's 2000 feet not 2000 yards.

It's been a problem in Florida, where the various counties have been
engaging in a "who can seem tougher on sex offenders" derby, for quite
some time.

It's a problem in Florida where there is a church on every street
corner. They are never cured, but who wants to live in the middle of
five acres?

actually prots of the episcapalian type use it.
I was always amused at the fear of catholics my prot friends parents had,
but as it was a town that was 80% catholic they had to tolerate us or their
kids wouldn't have had any friends.
no American catholic ever gave a hoot about what others believe.

Read the play or see the film (if its on video)
The Dark at the Top of the Stairs with Robert Peston 1960
Eve Arden as Aunt Lottie has lots to say about Catholics
and how they have guns in every church basement etc
Good story overall

Personally I take no offence at being called a PAPIST. I'm in good
company with many others like Saints Thomas More and John Fisher!

Ian Paisley used to say it, before he went into government with them.
Regrettably, some working class Irish protestants, mainly in the
partially devolved statelet of Northern Ireland still do, and in all
seriousness.

If they are anything like English (mostly Irish descended) Catholics,
few of them have a clue about what they are supposed to believe either.
It is mainl a matter of group identity.

Why can they not be relocated to an internment camp in the middle
of the Owens Valley in California?

I think that a major problem in regards to the appropriate sentencing of
sex offenders is that if it is too severe they will simply kill the
victim, the principle witness, if it makes no difference to their
punishment.
