I had a funny feeling about 2/3 of the way through the ep that she might
get shot. I just didn't think Dick Wolf would let Melnick die, because
then Tovah Feldschuh wouldn't be able to appear on the show again for a
very long time...and even then I could never accept her as anyone other
than Danielle Melnick.
That was a pretty good ep, IMO.
Carolyn
She's been a recurring defense attorney dating back to the days of Paul
Cerreta and Mike Logan. Her first appearance was in "Aria", the 3rd
episode of the 2nd season. Tonight marks her ninth appearance on the
series. I would be surprised if they killed off her character.
Another great recurring defense attorney is Arthur Gold (George Grizzard)
although facing McCoy is nowhere near close to the episodes where he went
against Stone.

Played by Phil Sorvino?
Do Jack and Danielle have a history outside the courtroom?
There seemed to be some chemistry there...

Oh, come on. Jack mentioned at one time he and Danielle knew each other for 25
years. I believe they were professional adversaries and that's it.

I didn't mean anything sleazy, just wanted to know if they'd
had a romantic relationship at one point.

Prior to Kincaid, he had four assistants and slept with three of them. We
know two of them were Diana Hawthorne and Michelle Kates ... it's not
likely that Melnick was the third although it can't be ruled out either.

Was Melnick one of his assistants?
> In article <Xns92CECC336BB1As6...@68.1.17.6>, Bob
I have not caught any innuendo to confirm that she was an ADA ... and it's
not likely since Melnick battled Stone a couple of times.
Now that I look back at my previous post, I can't recall if Kates was an
ADA. All I remember is the talk about it between Kates and Kincaid (re:
"Paranoia") but it sure sounded like there was.
my few cents

Are you sure Michelle Kates was? She mentioned working with him but not for
him. Maybe they were ADAs together at one time.
Two of the three prior assistants were Diana Hawthorne and Sally
Bell. The third was his ex-wife. I doubt that Melnik was his
ex-wife. Of course, he may have dated women other than his assistants at
some point in his life...
Ursula
Thank you !! :-) I completely forgot about Sally Bell (Edie Falco).

Vox, still wondering about the Serena/Jack relationship

I watched it a second time last night (the husband hadn't
seen it yet). The actors definitely were playing it as if
the two characters had been intimate at one point. Maybe this
will come up in a future episode.

I don't think she's interested!
Also, there's always law school.....

Maybe I'm projecting! I think there is chemistry there, though.
<< in the last couple of episodes, Serena acts like Jack disgusts her....that's
fine with me, I'd rather see him with an older, mature woman, like Danielle >>
Absolutely, but at at this point I'll take even a flirtation with Serena.
I don't think she acts disgusted with him personally. I think she's playin'.
I don't see where Jack has to have another affair. As far as I'm concerned it
doesn't add to the story line unless they bring her in later like they did
Diane Hayworth? I hope Serena has the sense to keep their relationship on a
professional level. mald...@aol.com >

For the record, the previous McCoy-assistant/lover in "Trophy" was
named Diana Hawthorne.
