Can anybody tell me why he is suddenly wearing an eye patch? Eye
operation for the actor maybe?

Casting for the Pirates of The Caribbean movie.

Seriously...Sheridan (and his character Captain Deakins) suffers from
Bell's Palsy which affected his facial nerves and he had to wear an
eye patch for several episodes. He also had some slight problems
moving his lips to speak dialogue although those eye-patched CI
episodes featured Deakins speaking a lot more dialogue to the victim's
families and witnesses to the crimes than in his usual appearances
advising his detectives on the next step of their investigations.

My thoughts also, I'm getting the feeling that some people think the
syndicated episodes are first runs.

Mike wasn't on the show yet at that point.

There's a woman over at Television without Pity who's fascinated by
the older Goren CI shows but says she only sees them on cable and
doesn't even know when they're on NBC...

Actually maybe this is not so strange, I started watching the
Mothership about 4 years ago on TNT and had never seen any of the L &
Os prior to that. Maybe just disillusionment with prime time
broadcasting?

I'm watching it in the UK. God knows how many seasons behind we are!

A lot. I e-mailed the Hallmark Website about it but got no reply.
There being so little else on worth watching so much of the time, I've
seen some eps four or five times. What is the matter with these people?
