PS Sorry about side tracking, but I knew I'd find CN fans here.
Wait until they meet Jane....

Loved the red touque---seeing Chris on the big screen was worth
slogging through the rest of the flick.

You know that scene really confused me. I missed what he was
saying because for a few seconds I'm sitting there thinking, "Hey,
that's Chris Noth! Cool beans...."
But then he said his name was Spaulding and he was the
dentist. But later on when Hanks goes to visit Helen Hunt, she said
her last name was Levitt or Levine or something with an L.
Now, did I miss something, or what the heck's going on?

I may be wrong but didn't he (Noth) say something like .... Spaulding
introduced them?
Spaulding was Chuck Noland's (Tom Hanks) dentist. On the island I think
Hanks says "Spaulding is my dentist"
Chris Noth played dentist "Jerry Lovett" - so Helen Hunt played his wife,
"Kelly Lovett".

According to the IMDB, you seem to be correct. Like I said, I
was too busy thinking, "Hey, that's Noth!" to pay attention for a
moment. :)
It was, AFAIK, "Spaulding reffered you to me for route canal"

And Tom Hanks is married to Rita "Wilson".
When Hanks read the script he said, "We have to leave this IN."
