Someone asked a little while back how many cars were destroyed in
making the original Knight Rider, and the answer of course is basically
none due to clever film and model work. I'm not sure how many cars the
show used in total, but it wasn't a huge number either.

By comparison, there was a story in the newspaper here yesterday about
the original Dukes of Hazzard. Apparently the Dukes show used 300
General Lee cars during it's run (it's anyone's guess how many police
cars and others!), routinely destroying one or two per episode when
doing the stunts. Only about 23 of the original cars are thought to
remain in existence.

You are one of the biggest idiots I have ever seen on Usenet. Get your
facts straight. Knight Rider destroyed MANY Trans Am's, you moron.

in the pilot there were only two cars used one was used for the mock up and
the other was actually filmed. I don't know how were used during the total
run of the show. The fact that I stated can be found in season 1 comentary

You are right. They only had 2 Trans Am's for the Pilot episode. However,
throughout the series, they had many different cars. Some were even remote
controlled (also stated in the Season 1 Commentary). The series destroyed
many Trans Am's. Not nearly as many as "The Dukes of Hazzard" destroyed
Dodge Chargers, but the "Dukes" also lasted almost twice as long as Knight
Rider.
