It's now being reported that T-Rump is offering diplomatic posts to anyone
who can book A-List talent for his ego-fest. No takers so far.

To what end, Trumpswab? You think a diss from the manbaby would keep Celine
Dion from selling out every venue she plays?

You don't think the rest of the world is laughing? You bet they are, but
they aren't laughing at the artists.

This sounds like an opportunity to have a real "populist" inauguration
sans Hollywood singers and entertainers. Get some local bands, church
choirs, and military bands to entertain.

And you posted this off-topic article here because?

Bingo.

Do we have any indication that *any* of the aforementioned people were
invited to perform at the Inaugural balls? (I'm particularly curious
about Eric McCormack and Michael Rapaport who, as far as I know, are
dramatic actors, not singers or instrumentalists. For example, would
they get McCormack to do some of his favourite bits from Will & Grace?
With or without the other actors from the show?)

Or do we just public declarations from these people that they wouldn't
go *if invited*? Because that's just virtue-signalling, not actually
declining an invitation.

Actually, I think it's a relevant question. I looked at the list, and
wondered why some of them were asked, what makes this group of artists
appealing to Trump, or maybe it's just the committee in charge of the
inauguration.

Maybe it's because they've all played his hotels, so he feels an
obligation to hire them now? Then suddenly there would be reason for
people to reject the offer.

I'm crowd-sourcing the question. I don't follow gossip pages but others

these people say than to dig it all up myself.

And *maybe* none of these people - besides Bocelli - were actually asked
and this is just a list of people who have tweeted "There's no way I'd
perform for that so-and-so Trump if I were asked", in which case they
aren't actually refusing an invitation because they didn't get one.

I still don't see what the actors in the list would do on a stage in the
absence of their sets, scripts, fellow actors, etc. Take a bow?
Do a monologue of their favourite Shakespeare soliloquy?

Most of the people in the OP's list aren't mentioned in that article and
some of the people that *are* mentioned weren't actually invited.
Clearly, the writer of the Daily Beast article just *assumed* that some

You live in a dream world where you believe what you want to believe
because it fits your narrative.

How many celebrities do you think want to be associated with a guy like
Trump? Clearly there is no up-side. Clearly there is a down-side.

The smart and safe course is to stay the fuck away and keep your
opinions to your self. That's all that's happening. Those who don't
want to be seen with him aren't necessarily his supporters, or his
detractors.

Most just don't want to be his collateral damage.

Yes, there's definitely a big difference between declining an invitation
(since you have to be asked first) and announcing that you wouldn't
attent.

Tell a humurous story? Act as a master of ceremony, to introduce the
other acts?

SUddenly I'm thinking Peter Coyote had some role during Obama's first
inauguration, but I'm not certain. But since he's done a lot of voice
work, I can see him being an MC (he did that at the OSCARs one year).

I could have sworn that's exactly what I suggested elsewhere in this
thread but you insisted that celebrities had the same rights to express
their views as anyone else - which I don't dispute - but your remarks
implied that they *should* be expressing those opinions (at least if
they were supportive of the Leftist narrative).

I'm just telling you the reality is that if they accept, they
