OT: Brother Jimmy Swaggart and Taking the Fun out of Fundamentalism

stupidity and utter disregard for common decency. Brother Jimmy Swaggart
actually saying IN PUBLIC, "And I'm going to be blunt and plain: If one ever
looks at me like that, I'm going to kill him and tell God he died," He was
talking about gays, of course. Just when you think the fundies might have
some hope of redemption. This guy and his band used to play at my church
when I was a kid. He was "cool". I think he might even be some shirt-tail
relation to Elvis Presley. He had his own sex scandal and everything ... and
now he's asking for THIRTY-FIVE DOLLARS for a 'leather-covered" New
Testament to be sent to our military folk in Iraq. Hey! 3 for $100! What's
not to like about this guy?
I sent him a little note from his website this evening and told him what's
not to like.
I am *definitely* going to the Other Place now.

When the black helicopters show up, someone will have to volunteer to take
the 3 dogs, and the dogs might not go willingly. That's honest-to-god the
only thing in life that concerns me. The rest of the world can go to hell.
I'll vote for Kerry, too, but I'm becoming less and less invested in his
election. It's hard to care. And, let's face it, if this country is willing
to give GWBush another 4 years after the clusterfuck of the last 4 years,
maybe *I* am the one who is crazy and it's time to let the world wag itself.

reaffirm that you get the President you deserve. Since there are signs that he
expects to win and reinstate the Draft shortly afterward, many of them will get
to put their lives on the line, in a very realistic way, just for their beloved
Commander.

We'd take the dogs. They may have to be outside dogs, but they could play
with the horses if they wanted. And the boys love dogs. We have nice dog
houses with fresh straw and everything. We could even give them peanut
butter meds.
Nonetheless... I don't expect you to go to jail anytime soon, nor The Other
Place, because I think that even those these Swaggart types don't have a
sense of humor, and whatever PTB most certainly do/does. I am almost
certain that it is WE who will get the last laugh and not they, as they do
not even know how to laugh. So I'm not the least bit worried.

Well, if he's "re"-elected [not that he was elected in the first place,
according to me ... but that battle is long lost], he doesn't actually
"take" office again ... he just stays in office. There will be the parties
and an Inauguration Day and all, but he doesn't step out of a box and then
step back in ... so if he wins, he just gets to do whatever-the-hell it is
that he's wanted to do all along but there was this election standing in his
way, you know ... Sometime immediately after Nov.2, we should know what that
is. Unless a miracle occurs and ...

Prime Minister seems to have weathered Iraq so far.

If by that you mean he's still standing and his own party
haven't called for a "vote of confidence" (every other
party and most of the voters are calling for his guts
for garters and many are demanding that he resign)
if he tries taking us into Iran and/or Syria, I don't think
anyone will wait till next year's election.

In other words, he just *might* try to take ya'll into Iran and/or Syria if
ole GWBush decides to go. Once a politician has decided it's betteer to be
*right* than popular, ya just don't know what's going to happen next. You
guys are lucky you got that "vote of confidence" thingie workin' for you. If
GWB gets re-elected, we got 4 more years with no hope of salvation.
