If however, you mean the thing where DM jumps on his horse and the loin
cloth chaps thing (I think this is the right episode, as in the out
takes in blooper reel) -- John, you have been asleep! We have been
drooling over THAT for some time now.... Some of us way above and
beyond the normal call of duty.

This ep to me demonstrates what is lacking in season 6. Will we ever see
Mac with this much passion again? Richie asks who that is and Mac's
replies, "a dead man". It was great. This was definitely the most fired
up we have ever seen Mac. Mac and Kern attacked each other like animals.
It was obvious from the intensity of the story and strong emotions that
Kern was not walking away from this one. And Kern was such a great
villain. We have not seen his like this season. His scene in the
confessional was outstanding. Talk about being unrepentant. Tex Cobb was
excellent as the immortal biker from Hell. He possesses genuine menacing
physical presence.
I have a question. The quickening scene had Mac levitating and Little Deer
and her son appearing. The boy reached out and Mac and him seemed to
exchange a spark of energy from the Q. Does anyone have any idea what was
going on here?

I really liked Mac's passion in this ep (that "dead man" line was great)
but Kern didn't impress me that much. IMO, it doesn't take much to act
like a bull in a china shop. I much prefer kimmies like Xavier or Kalas
(this one's broken, get me another <shiver>) over Kern. But that's JMHO.

I liked this resolution to his grief over losing Little Deer and Kahani
and the streaks of blood on his face, guess I'm just a sucker for face
painting <g>.

Where is this, praytell?

Every time I watch Line of Fire, I cringe over the spirits-in-the-clouds
bit. I think it's HL's alltime worst special effect. Connie

Even though, from what I've heard, it might be AP's stunt double's butt.
(At least, I was told that several of the shots on the blooper reel are
the stunt double.)
(Where's Timmy when we need him, anyway??)

Hey, I've drooled plenty over that nekkid butt shot, thank you very much.
I even mentioned it on the ng more than once, particularly after seeing
the first blooper reel, which showed a bit more nekkid butt than the
aired version did.

It's odd to me that you really liked this and thought of it as passion and
DM being fired up. I actually didn't find it at all attractive -- I saw it
as the destructive thing that it, IMHO, was. DM hated Kern. I'm not saying
I don't understand hate, but I find that while it may drive people to do
things that result in justice (sometimes), and/or rid the world of a bad
element, it doesn't do much for the hater -- it eats away at the soul. DM
was nearly destroyed by his hate for Kern. He lacked a certain internal
wisdom to deal with that hate at the time. I felt sorry for him. I didn't
find it "great" at all. Great drama, yes, but I didn't like it in DM. I
can only say I'm glad he killed Kern, because in doing so in a fair fight
within the rules of the Game and *not* as the result of wasting god knows
how much of his life searching for him, DM could finally begin to heal.
I guess I understand what you're saying about how this ep shows what is
missing in Season 6, but frankly, I'm just as happy that it *is* missing
from Season 6. I'm glad that DM seems to be getting a handle on his
"passionate" tendencies, those that result in him slashing out in anger,
anyway.

I totally agree with this. Kern was one of my top ten k'immies.

I always saw it as just one of those good ideas that didn't translate well
on screen, I'm afraid :-). Like the levitating house in LotP.

*snip*
I seriously doubt there's any need to worry about this. Unlike Caine, DM's
whole life is predicated on his participation in a deadly Game where all
kinds of nasties pop out of the woodwork and DM *has to kill them* -- not
make them see the error of their ways or talk them over to the good side
or even just knock their heads together for the cops to take care of.
DM may have gained a lot of wisdom and learned how better to control his
baser impulses after AAA, but he's not an enlightened being (nor a Shaolin
priest :-P). He's still DMotCM. And he's still got a sword in hand and a
Game to play.
Naomi
Not to worry. _The_Messenger_ is pretty much a promise that the show will
never go that way. :)

No, I think the all-time worst special effect has got to be the levitating

Let me Guess... you were at Stump the Experts right?
I'm the one that asked the question that started the That was a stunt Butt!

Claire, help me out in my dotage.
I'm always forgetting the abbreviations.
Levitating house in LotP.......That would be:
Lord of the Prance
Last of the Pringles
Laugh of the Panzers
Light on the Parisiennes
I give up!!
Suncat.........who, BTW, had a great time
at Emory...way back when.
Actually, no, I didn't get to go to that one. That information was (I
think) mentioned by Gillian on AOL a while ago, like when the blooper
reel was first seen. IIRC, she mentioned that AP is a better horseman
than the blooper reels make him look, because all those shots of him
falling off are usually when he has to do something tricky like avoid
riding over camera or sound crew in tight shots, and that quite a number
of them, like the ones from LotP, weren't him anyway.
Kathy
Or Richie's "Disco Q" in The Messenger. (Which I actually thought was
probably a neat idea that just didn't come across very well.)
Kathy
LOL!!! Try "Leader of the Pack". (Although with AP's dancing
abilities, and Duncan's flamenco experience, I'd tune in for "Lord of
the Prance"!)

Hey!! That wasn't for public perusal, Patt. I'm astonished you would
pass on such private confidences to the entire ng. Shocked, even.
Appalled. Not to mention embarrassed...
Naomi (I knew I couldn't trust Fitz to keep his mouth shut...)

That would be "Leader of the Pack," Season 4.
