I'm new to the HIGHLANDER world. I've watched the first movie (and read
the FAQ). I thought Christopher Lambert was French. But the accent in
the movie/first tv episode is not anything I can place. Any bio
information available (it's not in the FAQ that I can see).

Second question: is the European and/or Japanese version available in
the USA. I'm watching a Euro version that's about four generations old.

Christophe Lambert is French. The accent is intentionally unplaceable: there
are times when you can teach an old dog new tricks, and there are other times
when you put a Frenchman in a boat to tell a Scot how to make haggis. The
accent was apparently "created" to be virtually unplaceable.

Happy Watching, Nancy.

He very definitely is French ... as for his accent I know what you mean about
it being hard to place. He must have been raised somewhere other than in
France - cos his accent certainly is not French!

Take Care!

The accent in the movie was practiced to be foreign but non-descript.
The lines between Nash(MacLeod) and Garfield show alot of the accent
(Plus I love the scene)

Garfield: You talk funny, Nash. Where you from?
Nash(MacLeod): Lots of different places.

If memory serves, Lambert was born in New York to French parents and
raised in Switzerland. He worked with a vocal coach to develop an
unplaceable accent for Highlander.
