Connor was trained by Remieraz, who was better then Connor AND Duncan put
together. Plus with Connor's illusion abilities..I know i know...but Duncan is
very good,Connor trained him, but if it came down to it...Connor would narrowly
beat him.

Illusion abilities? Illusion abilites!?! Blasphemer!!!
Too bad Connor couldn't use those abilities to make that

Connor had to cheat to beat the Kurgan. Connor on his back on the floor,
the Kurgan kicks his sword away and is prepared to end it, when he is fouled
by Brenda, who in a gross violation of the rules attacks him with a pipe
giving Connor a second chance to slither away and regain his sword. Just
calling them as I see them.

Plenty of time? Connor was dead meat laying on that floor. Kurgan got him
there fair and square. Only Brenda's pipe save him.

Um....have to disagree there...........

Although I all know what you're thinking, but you remember that guy who was
in that episode with Harish Clay and that Carter guy that Richie
killed......I can't remember his name....but he trained Ramirez (I know, I
know, you're all saying that he never really trained him and that it's a big
lie, but just going on fact and what they said in the series....) Then,
Harish Clay came along and took that guy's head infront of Duncan.....

But what is this? Duncan killed Clay..............making him better than
Ramirez, the guy who trained Ramirez, and Harish Clay.........and most
importantly, Connor.

And even though I have never seen the first season....(They {t.v. station}
always seems to start the Highlander series over from season 2 because they
don't want to show the 2 hr first episode or something.....) When they were
sparring (Connor and Duncan) and it looked as though Connor was
better...........THIS WAS BEFORE DUNCAN GOT A GAZILLION
QUICKENINGS.........excuse the yelling.........

As it stands now, Duncan is the best there is, the champion, and the best
there ever will be.............

Unless he like, falls on his own sword and cuts his head off or
something............

Connor would beat Duncan because he has the Kurgan's Quickening. And,
just because Duncan beat the guy who killed Ramirez's teacher doesn't
necessarily make him more skilled. I though Grahame Ashe, whether or
not he was a good swordsman, was a coward, without the backbone to do
what it takes, to survive the Game. I've learned from experience that
simply knowing the moves isn't enough. There's a certain something...
Anyway, Ramirez was a better fighter than Grahame Ashe, and was clearly
not a coward; he knew he could not beat the Kurgan, but he did not
hesitate to fight him. Ramirez would have beaten his old teacher. And,
of course, the Kurgan is described by Ramirez as being "the perfect
warrior" and "the strongest of all the Immortals." It was only through
his own great arrogance that Connor beat him. He was the strongest one
there is. As he said, "You are weak, Highlander. You will always be
weaker than I."

Why do we have this discussion???? This ain't never gonna happen peoples. In
the end it is going to be either Duncan or Connor. It is never gonna be Duncan
v Connor. It is gonna be either Duncan versus a bad guy or Connor versus a bad
guy. I personally don't want to pick who because then you are ending the
Highlander universe and I don't want that to happen.

You're right. If either one ever *does* die, it will not be at the
hands of the other. If it ever came down to just the two of them, they
probably would not fight, unless there is something that makes immortals
NEED to fight, you know, an urge like...well, you know...one that can't
be ignored. And it could possibly be much stronger with only two them
left. But I doubt it. Anyway, they will both have to be killed off
sooner or later because although I don't know how old Christopher
Lambert is, he's got to be getting up there, and Adrian Paul is 39, so
it is going to become rather apparent fairly soon that these guys are no
longer young.

Is it just me, or is this really starting to sound like the annual
arguments over who should be rated #1 in college football...

Well, Florida State beat Florida, North Carolina beat Florida State,
Georgia Tech beat North Carolina, Notre Dame beat Georgia Tech, Stanford
beat Notre Dame, Washington State beat Stanford, Tennessee beat
Washington State, Nebraska beat Tennessee, Missouri beat Nebraska, Ohio
State beat Nebraska, Purdue beat Ohio State, and Toledo beat Purdue. So
Toledo should be #1... But wait, everybody else beat Toledo...

It was a joke. Lighten up. Just commenting on the similarities between
this particular Duncan vs. Connor argument and the usual arguments about

Yes, your post was funny, but I asked everyone who they thought would win in
the battle between the two of them.

My pick is Duncan.

Id still have to say Connor would win. Duncan isnt as good a swordsman as
everyone makes him out to be. Most of the fights they've shown it seems like
they could go either way. The only advantage he's ever had, is he's like the
best at every martial art in the eastern hemisphere. But still, u cant throw
down ur sword and start karate choping him. Connor's never backed down from a
fight, theres no way he would just say hell with the game i wont take duncans
head. I dunno maybe im just a die hard fan of Connor's. But think about when
joe was having a discussion with some other watchers he amazed duncan beat
grayson, and i dont remember grayson being any good.

Well, if most of the fight's have shown that they could go either way, he
must be fighting a pretty good Immortal, and guess what, Duncan hasn't lost
yet.

I thought Joe said that Grayson was one tough son of a bitch and that's why
they were amazed.................

And Duncan is a lot better now than he was then......he's the freaking
champion already.......(which I agree is corny, but hey, it's fact!)

You never know who would win. You can speculate on who is better in what but
who would win this fight?

You don't win because of the number of Q's you had although they can help.
The same for skills. The number of Q's just add to your skills.

Anyone who's been in a real fight knows that aside from pure skill, the
psychological balance is probably the most important factor. If you don't
feel secure, afraid or unjustified you will have adrealine but you are
seriously imperred in using your skills.
However both have been in many fights and I asume both would be alright in
this department.

Furthermore pure luck is a factor, a big one. And circumstances, like did
you sleep well, are you not depressed. No hangover, your place or not and so
on are key elements. How ready are you to fight?

A fight never proves anything. Not even who is the better fighter

Most important question for Conner versus Duncan would be why would they
come for each other. Both have strong morals and can't 'just' fight. Without
full justification both would not 'fight' their best.

I have often wondered about this. The few times that we have seen Duncan
staggeringly drunk, it worried me that he might run across some stupid and weak
little immie, who would be able to take his head just because of his condition.
But then again. Perhaps having someone pull a sword on you, would sober a
person up quickly.

Fair and square? Which movie were you watching? After Connor and the Kurgan
fell through the roof, it just happened that Connor's sword fell away from
him, and he was unarmed as the Kurgan came to finish him off. The fight
restarted "fair and square" once both the Kurgan AND Connor had their
swords. From there we saw who won "fair and square."

I am glad you brought that up. First of all is it the Kurgan's fault Connor
dropped his sword in the middle of a sword fight. The Kurgan managed to
keep his. The second point, Connor dropped his sword in every fight he was
in. Don't believe me. Check. In every sword fight in the movie Connor
managed to lose his sword at least once. The man had butter fingers.

Here we have it. The final decision on who is the better swordsman. Cause I
think there must have been one or two fights where Dunkie held on to his the
whole was through. I wanted Dunkie to be the best cause I think he is better
than Connor too. But my favorite thing of all is when Tim(monkeysquat) goes on
and on about how Duncan is a ho. and she should have a leash on that thing.
And how Connor would whup him cause he wears a trench coat with tennies.

I think most people would drop their sword after falling some 50 ft through
a glass roof. Well most people would be dead. As for when he fights Fasil,
he is sliced in the hand, he doesn't drop the sword for no particular
reason.

Who one's coach is _can_ be significant, but it is _never_ a guarantee.

As your criterion you don't have to look at coaching. At best that's an
indirect
indicator of skill. Instead just LOOK at the two men in their fight
scenes.

Lambert's Connor is slower with fewer moves to select from. He relies
much more on strength
than on skill.

Paul's Duncan is everything you want in a fighter: fast, subtle,
strong, agile and graceful
and has a huge variety of styles and moves to draw from.

Popular sentiment dictates that we would want a fight between DM and CM
to be a draw,
but if you go by what we see on the screen CM ranks a distant second in
skill.

I'm not happy to say that, but based solely on the skill shown on screen
it stands out as
clearly true. I don't think the writers intended that, it's just true
of the actors that
were cast as Connor and Duncan, that's all.

I'm sure if a scene were scripted that had the two fighting full out, it
would be choreographed
to be an even fight despite what we've scene of the two actor's
abilities.

I'd rather keep 'em around a while and just turn a blind eye to the fact
that
the hairline has receeded a touch or a fold has deepened.

The added suspension of disbelief required is minor compared with
accepting that
immortals exist and are running around beheading each other. And we've
all
cleared that hurdle of imagination already. So this extra would be
easy.

It's worth it to still have mssrs Lambert and Paul around a while
longer. I'm
NOT suggesting they stay around into decrepitude, just that we can wink
at a
few signs of the aging process in order to keep enjoying their unique
talents.

I thought that CL was lots older than that. But then the last time I saw him
on a tv interview he had his hair dyed some awful shade of blonde or gray. He
looked ancient. But don't you think that it is relavant the in the movie we
are supposed to believe that Connor is 18 in physical appearance? Duncan
doesn't have that pressure, as he has been written to be mid thirties. And
finally, most importantly, CL has said that he wants this to be Connor's last
appearance. So don't you think that it will be? I am really sorry, but I think
the odds are high that Connor will loose the top seven percent durring HL4.

Connor is supposed to have died around 18, but the concept
of Immortals staying exactly the same and never aging at all
was introduced in the series. My understanding is that
Immortals do age in the movies albeit very slowly. In Connors
case he died at 18 and 400 years later he looked around 25-30.
In the Highlander book, I beleive its said that Ramirez died
at the age of 6, and 2000+ years later he looked to be in his
50's.
I like that idea better as it allows your actors more freedom
when they do age. Either way, its a matter of suspension of
disbelief. If you like the shows/movies, its easier to
overlook the inconsistancies. Just my opinion.

I think the idea they going for was that the immortals age until they reach their
prime age. The age they would be the best fighter at and able to be in the game.
Although its hard to believe ramirez would be best at 50, i think he aged until he
could be a great mentor and swordsman. Having the gray hair and the look of an older
man would give him more respect from his student. Maybe thats y he aged past his
best years pyhsically.

I did not say he did not have a reason to drop it, but the fact remains he
dropped his sword in every fight. Actually this is not true. The first
time he fought the Kurgan on the battlefield he did not drop his sword. he
was killed so fast he did not have an opportunity to drop his sword being
skewered on the first pass. This is no put down by the way. The Kurgan had
centuries of experience, Connor was a kid. He had no chance. I just
thought I would bring that up before it was pointed out to me.

A question on this. Why did the writers have him constantly losing his
sword? It must have been for dramatic effect.

Moose must always triumph over evil, do you not know that.
