Greetings
Does anyone know what style of martial arts Adrian practices? I'm real new
to the highlander show, and boy is it good. I know they are all repeats,
but they are all new to me...

Hello! I know that it's a form of Kung Fu, and I'm sure someone is
going to fill you in, but I remember reading that he practiced hung
gar and choy li fut. Since I know little about martial arts, that's
about as much as I know about that.

His knife/sword/stick work seems to be a mix of chinese forms, korean
forms and some phillipino forms.

This is forwarded from F.Braun McAsh, because his email is down and mine
isn't.....

Adrian's personal styles are hung gar and choy li fut kung fu. In addition, his
stick fighting forms are based on kali escrima and arnis. The sword styles of
Duncan MacLeod I based on a wide variety of systems, but primarily I used the
following styles as the basis of my fight choreography: Iado, kenjutsu,
happo-no-kamae, happo-giri, hwa rang do sword style, and also elements of 19th
century foot and cavalry sabre
F. Braun McAsh, Swordmaster, Highlander, the series, seasons III thru VI.

Securid 33,
Thanks for asking the question. My friend and I were wondering the same
thing the other day. We are wanting to take some self defense/martial
arts and so we were discussing the various ones out there. And being
highland er fans of course we were curious.

He also did a lot of Tae Kwon Do moves and forms, esp. in the first 2
seasons.

I must apologize to those of you trying to have a serious discussion here, but
*every* *time* I see this header pop up in my new messages, I see "Adrian's MARITAL
Art Style", my mind goes into overdrive ("How do you prepare for love scenese?" "I
don't need to prepare!"), my hormones soon follow, and it takes me a few minutes (or
a cold shower) to get back on track. ::Thud:: ::Thunk::

::sigh::

Sorry. Please continue.

Kathy, I agree! And (nothing like responding to two threads at once),
did any of you catch AP kissing that woman's hand who bought the long
coat in Denver? He couldn't reach her cheek for a kiss, so he took her
hand in both of his and kissed it. They were kind of at the back of the
stage, and I don't think a lot of people saw it, but those of us near
the front did. Sigh. As Kathy would say, ::thud::

LOL, Kathy! Btw, everyone interested in the styles please look closely
at Donald Duncan's message. Looks to me like very good information from
a very good source. JMHO.

I kind of think people into martial arts might want to ask him a bit
more about it.

Please don't ask me about martial arts! I don't know much about them. Braun was using my
computer to read the newsgroup and decided to respond. ...My connection but his typing...

Just gotta say here: It's great to see some of the family back here and in as

If it is alright to ask, who is Mr. Paul's gung fu sifu and what city does he
live in? How long has Mr. Paul trained in Hung Gar and Choy Li Fut? Has he
trained in Chinese weapons? Will he continue to train gung fu now that his
role in the series is finished?

Thank you,

I cannot answer most of your questions, but I do know that in the March 1998
issue of Inside Kung Fu, Vernon Reita has an article in which he says he has
taught AP for five years in hung gar and choy li fut.
