Do any of you fans have theories as to the meaning of the Watchers'
symbols? The main "branch" in the middle of the symbol could be the
greek letter upsilon. Does "watcher" or some synonym in greek start with
that letter?

Just because Methos has the symbol doesn't necessarily mean that the
symbol is a lot older than ancient Greece.

You bring a good point...I too would like to know what it means in our
reality and where it came from. Perhaps the writers/creators of the show
just threw something together that looked pretty kewl.

Do you think that Methos was BORN with that tattoo? How about
getting it done some 4000 years later?

We've got no idea when he got the tattoo (maybe we'll find out
someday--if those Powers That Be ever give the old guy a *&^%$#@!
flashback o' his own like they oughta <g>).

Here's my pet theory (*completely* unsubstantiated, of course--
if it actually appears on the show TPTB are even loonier than
I am <g>):

Methos grows up in some simple, beer-drinking culture
5000+ years ago. One day, while out harvesting hops
or barley or something, he gets caught in a primitive
threshing machine <don't start with me--I know this makes
no sense ;-)> and he dies, but then miraculously comes
back to life. The tribe, appalled at this, banish
him, but before they do, they mark him with a tattoo on
his wrist that in their culture means, "THIS IS THE SPAWN
OF SATAN; DO NOT FEED HIM; DO NOT GIVE HIM ANY OF YOUR
BEER"--you know, sort of a bird-like symbol surrounded by
a circle of dots <g>.

Millenia later, Methos decides to found the watchers, and
uses the tattoo as the watcher symbol, an inside joke known
only to him, as his original tribe is long since dead. I
can just see him smiling that secret little smile every time
he sees it....

If Methos were immortal won' a tattoo be a sort of wound? and heal
It is greek
I think Methos started the watchers or else how would he know about them I
mean Duncan has been around some 400 years and never noticed he had a
tail.
Nor did anyone else and then he could tell watchers a little fib and say
he caught some immie fighting so that is how he knows what they are and it
would be easy to die and turn up in some other place as a transfered
watcher looking for for Methos so who would suspect?

~What doesn't kill me makes me stronger.~
I thought it fitting. Nichi isn't it?

Methos' tattoo can't be more than 5 or 10 years old. The Watchers
would never hire a researcher who came with his very own tattoo.
Plus, they would be very suspicious of anyone who doesn't show any
signs of aging.

The watcher symbol on Methos may be painted on. For watcher symbol
check out the catalog from the Highlander store (the catalog
contains a lot of great pictures)or check out the links on the
