Imagine it he may be gone but his work lives on :).

Since I am in an Ancient/Medieval Art class I have to think about him even
though he was evil studying for centuries in a monastery.
Studying for centuries it seems is something I do as well :).
But since Connor and Duncan were practicing Swordfighting in the beautiful
Early Christian cathedral of Ravenna built in 504 A.D. by the Emperor
Theodoric it got me thinking about what Medieval Art subjects could be tied
into the Highlander saga.

Next episode the Bayeux Tapestry and the Battle of Hastings in 1066 :)

Hey ! Iconoclasts, mosaics, tesserae, Cimabue, Giotto. I got to go to Ravenna
and see it all right after I'd studied it. It was great.

Your degree is surely not worthless shatze you could get an advanced degree
in it or teach.

Historical art is something people love and will spend tons of money on.

Well thanks for the encouragement. I figured I could use it to have a career as
a museum docent. <g> I'll just hang on to occasional smug feeling I get from
the knowledge that I can tell a Monet from a Manet. :-D.

schatze --------> I also learned to take legible notes in the dark using only
the light from a slide projector~

Monet's the blurry one. <g>

One odd by-product of working with eye specialists in my youth is that the
first time I walked into a Monet exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago
knowing nothing about the artist, I looked around and went, "he's got a
developing cataract!"

I have a degree in studio art. i would not consider it useless, but no one
is going to pay me a decent wage to make art unless i become the next
georgia o'keefe. <g>

did you ever consider teaching college, schatze?

I started out in studio art. I couldn't persevere, however. At the time my real
interest was fashion design. I couldn't envision myself the next Anne Klein. I
ended up in retail clothing, for a while. Probably should have done store
windows for fun.

schatze --------> I never really considered teaching at all - save for dog
training<g>

i couldn't perservere in art history. i like the hands-on approach to
studio art. it took me 2 years to write my thesis paper and only 2
semesters to do the actual artwork for it. <BG> research gives me a
headache. give me my canvas (or paper) and some paints (or charcoal) any
day. :)))

Annie T

now if they would only pay me to make art, i would be in heaven. ;=)

I luuuuved Art History. I wanted to major in it. Life didn't agree with my
choice at the time however. Maybe someday I'll try again.

<G> Sounds as if our academic histories are mirror images. I wasn't focused, I
think. I liked ceramics, painting and drawing. Never tried sculpture. I also was
drawn to architecture. I ended up doing the preliminary plans to redo our house
to turn a one story cottage into a 2 story Victorian with a turret. I think I
just like anything artsy fartsy. Embroidery, stained glass, refinishing
furniture, installing herringbone floors.

schatze --------> In future, I'll think of myself as a Renaissance woman

If you are even in Boulder and visit the Hotel Boulderado ... an old
friend/co-worker is the one who restored the stained glass ceiling in the
lobby.

TBird <----- was hoping for one of her stained glass lamps for a wedding
present.... oh well...
