Gavin & Stacey Commissioned For U.S. Remake

Leading U.S. actors have been lined up for roles in the American version of
the hit TV show, to be called Us & Them.

The main characters are expected to retain the same names in the
adaptation - called Us & Them - with Jason Ritter from Parenthood and Alexis
Bledel, who was in Gilmore Girls, taking the main roles.

The creators of the series, James Corden and Ruth Jones, are joined by Steve
Coogan as executive producers of the show which has been snapped up by Fox.
The series is being made by Sony Pictures Television as well as BBC
Worldwide.

{{No word on when the series will air. There is a photo of Ritter and Alexis
looking as if they are dancing in some kind of conga line or something.
Ritter was in Parenthood with Lauren Graham, and Alexis --well, I know you
see the connection.}}

Oh no! WHY?!?!

The original is pretty qwful, but an Americanised "remake" will be utter
rubbish. Potentially a career-killer for both of them. :-\

Not all American remakes are bad. The U.S. version of 'Being Human'
is as good, or better, than the U.K version

Unfortunately there almost always are, even when they remake their own
shows / movies. They muck about with making lots of idiotic changes that
result in something that in reality is a completely different show ... in
this case they at least have the decency to change the show's title as
well.

I haven't seen the American "Being Human", but the British ones was
rubbish anyway.

Not a remake, but they did Americanise "Doctor Who" with the silly Paul
McGann movie, which was garbage best forgotten about. They also
Americanised the spin-off show "Torchwood" for it's final season, and that
was awful as well. :-(
