Did you all see Nancy Grahn's (Alexis) twitter posts about James Franco's
appearance on Saturday Night Live?

~~"Everyone says it's a step backwards, my family, my agent, the other
actors on General Hospital" :James Franco SNL...
"uncool" :nancyleegrahn ~~

and

~~i like jokes, but when u visit someones home you dont describe it as
backwards ~~

and

~~intention not 2 rile anyone..however when someone insults my friends/ co
workers/family i think a rebuttal is equitable.~~

How rude of him to request to be on the show and then to suggest that it was
somehow beneath him or a step backwards...why did he bother coming on the
show? I really don't see what the big deal is anyway...he isn't any better
than anyone else on the show.

I watched that SNL and it wasn't funny. I hoped he'd put in a plug for
GH but he didn't. He's a local boy, too. Went to Palo Alto High in the
Bay Area where I'm from. Very disappointing. I wanted to like him.

I watched the SNL episode. I never heard of him before all the GH hype.
I think he is horrible. Sloppy mouthed, and not such a looker that we
should all fall over. He should be glad he got a soap job, not gonna
make it big time in movies.

I don't know, maybe it depends on your definition, but I think he
already has "made it big time in movies". I mean, it doesn't get much
bigger than a co-starring role in Spider Man. And, given the right kind
of role, I think he absolutely is such a looker. I've been a fan of his
for awhile.

That being said, I thought his SNL joke went on a bit too long (but
don't they all?) I was insulted towards the end, but I'm trying not to
hold it against him, I'm sure he didn't write it.

And, just for the record, his character on GH is just.so.weird!

My impression of the SNL monologue was that the writers were making fun
of him more than anything. He got applause for a movie that didn't exist,
showed a photo of him sleeping in class that apparently was published and
now he was on a soap opera, and the audience wasn't even aware of it.

I never understood what the big deal was about him to begin with, especially
since he is just there for a short while in a very ridiculous, convoluted
story. I don't see the actor as that "hot," and I don't find the character
particularly intriguing.

At this point I'm just looking forward to his being gone.

On the other hand, I found Jason's demands to "just kill him" yesterday to
be a bit over the top. As far as we know, Franco hasn't done anything
except possibly witness Michael killing Claudia, and every body agrees that
Michael was acting in defense of his mother and sister when he did it. At
worst, it comes out that a bunch of people are involved in obstruction of
justice for hiding the crime, but in PC EVERYBODY's first instinct when
there is a murder is to hide the body!!

I still don't understand why TPTB at GH think that making Jason a cold
blooded killer, even if he is very attractive, will make us all root for
him.

I've never been an SNL fan, but I've caught a few episodes now and then.
What you said about his joke going on too long is what I've always found
annoying about SNL skits in general. It seems like the attitude is "if it's
funny for 30 seconds, let's keep it going for 5 minutes," but most things
aren't funny enough to sustain for that long. I know a lot of people have
gone on from SNL to become big stars on TV and film, but that must be from
their natural talent, not from the great writing.

Glad I'm not the only one to feel that way about SNL! I love good

would look at him twice.

I used to be an SNL fan and I don't mind skits but the current talent is
wasted on the bathroom humor jokes that prevail. Just not funny. I
don't usually watch anymore although I do like Fred Armisen, Kristen
Wiig and Keenan Thompson. I watched this time just to see James Franco
and the band Muse. Franco wasn't funny but neither were the skits.
