Without transcribing the preliminaries, which took up a lot of time itself,
here was what George's rant came down to.

(Coming back from commercial)
George-Now wait a minute, I think I should.....do you want me to complain some
more about this program
Allen-(Exasperated a bit) No, I'd like you to explain your complaint. Don't
complain anymore just explain it.
George-All right. Well here's the thing friends. I think you should know,
before we do this program, that is......(to contestant partner) Did they make
you sign that form too?
Contestant-I don't know what form you mean.
George-All right. Well there's a form that says you won't cheat, you won't
steal, you won't kick your mother, you won't tell anybody you might get any
(unintelligible because of canned NBC laughter)....it goes on and on like
you're some crook. It's really unnecessary in this game, I mean everybody
around this game is paranoid about the truth. They're very careful and even
have somebody from NBC who watches us. Now that gets into the police state
mentality. Now I don't think that's necessary and I personally resent it, Mr.
Silverman and the rest of you. Will you all write him a letter and tell him
to stop that?
(applause goes up, though not a thunderous ovation)

He was also jailed for a crime he didn't commit.

I think Mr. Meyer was referring to Peppard's role on The A-Team.
Remember, "In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military
court for a crime they didn't commit"?

We must have had a pre-emption, or four-show week, perhaps for the Thanksgiving
day parade in 1979 or 1980? This would make my episode numbers jibe.

Anybody?

Reagan's first inauguration would be one preemption, besides the traditional
ones(Thanksgiving, New Year's Days when they fall outside of Saturday,
Wimbledon coverage). ALso, one day in May 1980 was preempted for Iranian
hostage coverage, as we discussed a while back.

Ah. He didn't make the distinction between performer and character, like I ever
watched The A-Team.

That was in January 1981.

I've already accounted for the hostage preemption.
