Also, given that Geoff Edwards appeared in a few television shows in acting
roles (Petticoat Junction comes to mind, as does the Bobby Darin show of
1972-73), I wonder if he didn't do some movies too.

By the way, do any of you people in the group know of any other movies that
game show hosts have appeared in? I can only think of three:
(1.) "Overboard" - (Ray Combs)
(2.) "Happy Gilmore" - (Bob Barker)
(3.) "The Running Man" - (Richard Dawson)

And remember.....you can't spell Combs without CBS!

Besides the obvious "Gong Show Movie", Chuck Barris also had a bit part in
Robert Downey Sr.'s 1997 film "Hugo Pool"....

Alex Trebek (cameo, J! host 1992)
WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP
starring: Woody Harrelson, Wesley Snipes, Rosie Perez
Pat Sajak (buffalo, ny anchorman)
AIRPLANE!
starring: an all-star cast
Bert Convy (an actor in movies too many to list down)
Bob Eubanks (doorbell man)
Arte Johnson (panel on a gameshow)
Jaye P. Morgan (panel on a gameshow)
Jaime Farr (panel on a gameshow)
HOME ALONE 2
Ahmad Rashad (cameo, sportscaster)
***note: Rashad hosted NBC "Caesar's Challenge" from 1993-94, but has been
famous today with NBC sportscastings since the 80's
BEST OF THE BEST
starring: James Earl Jones
Vanna White (cameo, at an academy awards)
THE NAKED GUN 33 1/3
Bill Cosby (many movies too long to list)
*** note: Cosby hosted "You Bet Your Life" from 1992.
Yes he did.
To add another one, if memory serves, Alex Trebek was in "White Men Can't
Jump". (Rosie Perez's character ends up winning tons of money on Jeopardy!)
I also remember John Davidson in "The Squeeze".
Lewis's film debut was an an announcer in "An Affair to Remember" (1958).
Besides "Business," he played himself on the panel of "What's My Perversion?"
in "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask"
(1972) with Jack Barry as host and Regis Philbin as a copanelist, "Good
Neighbor Sam" with Jack Lemmon, something called "Ski Party" (1964) that was a
beach movie on snow, "HAWMPS" (1979), some weird Western the name of which
escapes me and finally some soft-porn somethingorother called "My Chauffeur"
(1986), which was his last film. A 1954 interview said he wanted to remake "The
Freshman," but Harold Lloyd wouldn't relinquish the rights to the film.
Larry Blyden also did three movies, two in 1957 ("The Bachelor Party," real
good in a best-friend role with a Pesci voice, and "Kiss Them For Me") and "On
a Clear Day You Can See Forever" (1970) as Streisand's nerdy fiance, presumably
not playing his real age (he was 45 playing a recent business school grad and
she was 28 playing a 22-year-old).
"My wife doesn't write on the walls -- she corrects the grammar!"
-- Bert Convy on "Tattletales" (ca. 1975)
John Davidson played a t*** s*** host in Edward Scissorhands.
"Now let's open the board and get to the cards." Jim Perry on Card Sharks (1978-81)
Don't forget the "I've Got a Secret" gang in "It Happened to Jane" (1959)
with Doris Day and Ernie Kovacs (host of "Take a Good Look").
Also, Bert Parks was in "The Freshman" (1990) with Matthew Broderick and
Marlon Brando.
Bob Clayton ("Concentration") was in a Jerry Lewis movie in the early '60s,
I can't remember which one.
And I think Hal March of "The $64k Question" was in a few movies as well.
One more: if you want to think of it as a game show, Fred Holliday of "The
Girl in My Life" had a very small part in "A Guide For the Married Man" with
Jack Lemmon (1965).

What's your excuse?
Actually, it's Tom Kennedy you hear in the TPiR clip from Flight of the
Navigator...you can hear Johnny O say "And now, here's the star of The
Nighttime Price is Right...Tom Kennedy!"
Chuck Donegan (The Illustrious "Chuckie Baby")
Bob Eubanks also had a bit in "Johnny Dangerously" as the host at a movie
premiere

Yes, he appeared in Airplane II as the Buffalo anchorman.

Pat was in "Airplane 2" as well...and don't forget the question Alex read
this week--that Art appeared with Gregory Peck in the film "MacArthur"

And the boss' mistress turned game-show assistant was played by
Maureen Arthur, who was assistant on "Charge Account", hosted by Jan Murray...who
co-starred with Jerry Lewis in "Which Way to the Front?"

Don't forget him playing Herb the sales guy's father on "WKRP in

"The Bellboy"

Not as many as I thought--I checked IMDB....he had roles in a few small
films and even co-starred in a TV series, "The Soldiers", pre-"Question", but
his only signiicant film role after that was in "Send Me No Flowers" with the
triumverate of Doris Day, Rock Hudson & Tony Randall. He also played the lead
in the original Broadway prduction of Neil Simon's first play "Come Blow Your
Horn"(Frank Sinatra had the role in the film version)

"A Guide For the Married Man" starred Walter Matthau and came out in
1967...Hal March also had a role in it(celeb cameos included Lucille Ball, Jack
Benny, Carl Reiner, Sid Caesar, Phil Silvers and Art Carney--and it was
directed by Gene Kelly).
And if you remember his stint fronting "Earn Your Vacation" add Johnny
Carson, for his cameo in the Bob Hope film "Cancel My Reservation".
Paul Duca
Jay Wolpert, the man you have to bless for "Whew!" and mildly curse for
"TNPiR94", played a role in "Father of the Bride," according to IMDb and Mike
Klauss.
Chico Alexander

"I am your substitute teacher, Mr. Law. Thank you for taking your seats."

Both Art Fleming and Pat Sajak had cameos in "Airplane II: The Sequel".
Art played himself and Pat played a local news reporter. If you happen to
come across this film, watch it. It's as hilarious as the original
"Airplane!" film.
Bo Bielefeldt
I'm assuming '85 since Johnny Olsen's voice is also heard: "...an exciting
trip to CANADA!"
-Ryan Bugaj
Host of Net Outburst
Umm.........don't you mean Tom Kennedy?
Jim R
Phil Melcher
What is that movie about, anyway? I've never been able to locate a copy or
been able to find it on cable. Does it feature an "episode" of IGAS in the
story?

No, it's not Bob Barker. The characters happen to be watching the
beginning of The Price Is Right. Only, it's a Tom Kennedy show because
at one point, the camera specifically goes to the t.v. where Tom is
talking with a contestant on stage.

Ok, other interesting tidbits. John Davidson played a t*** s*** host
in Edward Scissorhands. A few brief seconds of Scrabble can be seen in
Inner Space. In Splash, there is a scene where Darryl Hannah and Tom
Hanks are having a conversation in front of a television. On that t.v.
is someone winning $10,000 in the Winner's Circle on Pyramid, there is
a clip of Bob Barker making an entrance on TPIR on a movie called
First Born. There is a clip from PYL at the beginning of Cable Guy. In
Serial Mom, there is a scene revolving around Wheel of Fortune. That's
about it for now.
That's FUNNY! I just watched "Matilda" two nights ago with my kids for the
XXXXth time (it's my 6-year-old daughter's favorite right now), and I've never
noticed it was Marianne. Now I'm going to have to watch it AGAIN!! Argh...
