January 13, 1978... The final episode of "The Better Sex." Bill Anderson
and Sarah Purcell bid us adieu, blaming it on ABC's wanting to expand their
soaps again... OLTL and GH were 45 minutes, now they'll be 1 hour. But
they hope to be back with more eps ASAP. Ain't gonna happen, I'm afraid.

And so, on January 16, 1978, my 15th birthday, we saw "The $20,000 Pyramid"
move from its 2 PM ET time slot to the 12 noon slot formerly occupied by
TBS. This allowed OLTL and GH to expand and occupy the hour-long slots that
they have held for the last 20 years. "Pyramid," meanwhile, continued to
live on in this new time slot (it had been in the previous one for just over
three years) for almost 2 1/2 years.

Thus begins the ever-changing terrain of daytime TV for 1978... stay tuned
when another one of our G-T faves bites the dust in a couple of months...
