I honestly doubt he'd result to trolling (IF he has, oy...)

I recognized it as him when he made the Nick Arcade post.

In this case, I kind of hope he's trolling. No word at any news websites i've

What? You mean it's not possible that TMoroNPutz6969 knows something

If this is a troll, why are we giving him attention he doesn't deserve?

If it's any consolation -- and it should be -- there's *nothing* on any

I don't think he would die at 78 because I noticed he did karate often. And
boy, if he heard that somebody annouced he's dead, he would yell at them and
get angry.

Who the hell is this troll saying that Bob Barker is dead at 78? For one
thing whoever you are(The Troll) going around telling us on here that he
is dead, #1 Get your Story straight. BOB is not dead, he is still alive
and doing well with the Price Is Right. If he was dead I'm sure we would
all know about it and it would be all over the Internet and the news on
tv. Johnny Olsen is the only one gone from the show when he passed away
with a stroke and heartattack at 75.

Well, this is it. I'm almost ready to quit this group for good. As
always, I can never tell whether or not this news about Barker's death
is true. If it is, I feel your pain--all of you. If it's not--and I
have a feeling it's not--I don't need this bullshit. Nobody needs this
bullshit. Bob Barker and those closest to him ESPECIALLY don't need
this bullshit!!!

This group is a far cry from what it was in 1997 or 1998 when I first
joined it. It used to be fun. Now it's deteriorated practically beyond
repair. I have far better things to do--online or off--than to come
here and wade through endless, pointless, shameless, witless and
worthless threads about "dead" hosts who aren't, game show "hosts" who
aren't, and what shows various and sundry corpses will host, in an
attempt to find anything of any genuine substance. There are exactly
four things that keep me from severing ties with this place completely:
(1) Reading everyone's comments on a new GS, (2) Whatever steadily
decreasing need I might have to ask something or disclose any info that
is GS-related and reasonably smart, (3) The fact that this is the likely
place to find out when--if ever--GSN will ever schedule those
recently-discovered "Spin-Off" shows or any other rarity that I'd want a
copy of, and (4) My ongoing hope of being able to get a taped copy of
the 16mm film promo for that series which I was abhorrently stupid
enough to let go instead of trusting my instincts and grabbing it when I
had the chance.

I don't even have GSN and unless it goes analog here, I doubt I ever
will. I don't even watch many games these days. I usually switch to
WoF during commercial breaks on ET just to see what Vanna's wearing.
WWTBAM is the only one I even bother with anymore, and it's getting old
fast. By the time someone actually WINS a million, there may not even
be that many people watching. No, I don't dislike games as a whole and
don't disrespect the fanbase they have. But this group is really
helping to sour me on the whole experience...that plus the newer games
are either half-baked attempts to recapture the greatness of a familiar
name or overblown roman gladiator-type highjinks.

My interest is waning big-time. I don't belong here anymore. I have no
place here amid the sort of junior-high-mentality-level crap that now
aptly, commonly and publically defines this group. I'm sorry about the
tragic passing of Randy Amasia, but at least he's not here to witness
any further descentions into the bottomless pit of junk posts and
threads that sadly defines today's ATGS. It was once up there with
"Password"; now it's down there with "The Neighbors". And you remember
what happened to "The Neighbors" in 13 weeks. And how many folks
actually MISSED it afterward...

Deliberately publishing false reports of someone's death may constitute libel.
Barker, if he chose to pursue legal action, can afford very high-priced
attorneys.

Was there intent to damage Mr. Barker's character?

Is this a public enough of a forum?

Can Mr. Barker prove actual financial loss from this posting?

These are the questions.

chris319

unread,

My recollection of defamation law is that this would fall into the category of
statements considered libelous per se. There is no test for whether a forum is
"public enough" and there do not have to be actual financial losses on the part
of the defamed party.

Go to that site. It backs up some of my points of how to prove libel.

Well, it doesn't because it doesn't say anything about intent, financial harm or
whether this is a "public enough" forum as you said in your post. What would
save our friend the troll in this instance is that no one here took his post
seriously because there was no corroboration for his claim, thus no real harm to
reputation. If the troll had made the statement "Someone on the staff of show
'X' told me that the host has been diagnosed with early Alzheimer's" then it
would be a whole different kettle of fish.

Consulting my comm. law textbook, reckless disregard for the truth is considered
malicious intent in libel cases.

Let me set the record straight: Bob Barker is very much alive and well, unless

Hehe. I would have known that was false anyway, but thank god it didn't
happen, considerinrg what TNN does to there shows, the Black Bar being the
least offensive for shows not meant for widescreen.
