BTW, "Suddenly" was from the soundtrack of "Xanadu," which I have also seen,
and as best to my knowledge, "I Honestly Love You" does not appear on the
soundtrack of any movie (save for that little bit Michelle Williams sings in
the movie "Dick"). Yes, I know, I'm rambling again.

Hmm, doesn't this defeat the purpose of raising the stakes? Hey, even with
a $4M top prize, $40,000 is a lot of money. Next victims!

This question is easier this it sounds. 75 is the only odd number of those
five.

Figures. Figures. Figures.
Watch Fox 17 News at Ten. Because at ten it's news. At eleven it's

The next question is a big one.

I was talking with someone on the phone who would have picked Hopkins and
Freeman. Not a good move.

It was a discotech, which screams 70s (1975--the same year I was born).

I got that one! 1980.

I'd be remiss if I didn't get that! 1977, as I stated earlier.

Post-its were introduced in 1979.
The others, as posted earlier by Zach Horan: Thriller was released in 1982,
the Mac came out in '84, and Barney Clark got his artificial heart in '82.
MTV debuted in 1981.

Super Greed
A major change to the payoff for the next several episodes, with
the tower remaining the same for the first 5 levels, then
skyrocketing to 1 million, 2 million and finally 4 million. Also,
when you reach the million dollar level, the team is guaranteed
of their split of $200,000, regardless of what happens.
Another difference: No qualifying question. Positions are set by lot.
Capt: Rachel Malkenhorst
1. Dennis Frazier
2. Jon Cassie
3. Brian Carpenter
4. Kathi Sweet
For $25,000: What phrase describes a dependable stock with steady
earnings?
Bull chip
Bear chip
Blue chip
Cow chip
Kathi isn't a stock expert, but has enough expertise to answer "blue
chip". Rachel accepts. Blue chip.
For $50,000: In what city are you most likely to see Cockneys?
Paris
London
Rome
Hoboken
Brian believes Cockney is a form a British dialect. He answers London.
Rachel absolutely accepts, and they are absolutely right.
For $75,000: According to the label, how many calories are in a Diet
Coke can?
0
2
5
10
20
Jon drinks a lot of Diet Coke, so his answer is zero. Rachel doesn't.
She puts her faith in Jon's status as a veteran Diet coke consumer.
0 calories was right.
For $100,000: Rehnquist, Souter and Stevens are all members of what?
Backstreet Boys
NY Yankees
US Supreme Court
The WWF
The current cast of SNL
Dennis is certain about Supreme Court. Rachel accepts. They will
continue
the climb!
Rachel accepts the $200,000 topic of Movie Musicals. After the break,
the Terminator does some prowling. Kathi is selected. She calls out
Brian.
"According to the popular tongue twister, how many peppers did Peter
Piper pick?"
Kathi's answers of "a peck" sends Brian to the sidelines.
For $200,000: Which 4 songs can befound on the "Grease" soundtrack?
"Beauty School Dropout"
"Greased Lightnin"
"Suddenly"
"Summer Nights"
"Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee"
"I Honestly Love You"
Rachel holds the Freebie. Kathi has watched Grease many times, and
knows "Beauty School..". Jon was in the play in high school. "Look at
me..." is his selection. Dennis loves the movie, and the song "Greased
Lightnin'". "Summer Nights" rounds it off.
Is Greased Lightning in the movie? Naturally.
Look at me? They are looking at two right answers!
Summer Nights? YES!
Rachel refuses the bribe pretty quickly.
Beauty School Dropout? This team won't be dropping out yet! CORRECT!
The million dollar topic is "Famous Ads". Dennis wants to go, but
Rachel wants to stop. They meet in a group hug amicably at the end,
though.
The new group:
Capt: John Epperson
1. Jeffrey Gouda
2. Andrea Tachner
3. Lisa Stigers
4. Andrew Kinwax
For $25,000: La-Z-Boy is world famous for producing what?
Recliners
Sleeping pills
Microwave ovens
TV Remote controls
Andrew knows it is recliners. John accepts. No Wollerying here.
For $50,000: Give me a break, Give me a break. Break me off a piece
of that what?
Mrs. Smith's pie
Kit-Kat Bar
Chips Ahoy Cookie
Kentucky Fried Chicken
Lisa enjoys KitKats, making that her answer. John accepts. Right, and
on they go!
For $75,000: Where should a dapper man wear his boutonniere?
On his hsoes
On his boxers
On his tie
On his cuff
On his lapel
Andrea hopes it is lapel. John accepts. Lapel is he right answer!
For $100,000: What is NOT a standard sized box of regular Crayola
crayons?
16
24
48
64
75
Jeffrey recalls his childhood, where he had a 64, and then works it
out to 75. That was John's guess as well, so he accepts it. No such
thing as a 75 crayon box.
The $200,000 topic is: "Money. Money. Money." They go on. on. on.
After the break, the Terminator is out. It picks Jeffrey. He'll
challenge, and Andrew will be challenged.
"What is the predominant colour of a packet of Sweet'n'Low."
Jeffrey's answer of Pink is right. He'll stay in the game.
For $200,000: Which four are types of international currency?
Drachma
Napa
Schilling
Kobi
Guilder
Shekel
They hold the Freebie. Lisa selects Schilling. Andrea's pick is
drachma. Jeffrey's choice is Guilder, and John ends it with shekel.
He accepts all the answers.
Drachma? In Greece.
Schilling? Currency of Austria.
Shekel? Used in Israel.
John refuses the bribe. So, is guilder the last answer?
YESSIR! (The Netherlands)
The million dollar topic is "Movie Characters". Everybody wants to
go on!
Terminator! Andrea is given the option this time, and she wants to
be captain!
"What artist recorded the best-selling country album of all time
entitled Come on Over"
John is in first. He answers Shania Twain. Andrea can's come on
over to the captain's position. He's right.
For $1,000,000: Which 4 have played the U.S. president in the movies?
(Real or fictional)
Morgan Freeman
Anthony Hopkins
Paul Newman
Clint Eastwood
Harrison Ford
Michael Douglas
Bruce Willis
The Freebie is used. Eastwood may have protected Presidents in "In
the Line of Fire", but he hasn't played one.
Lisa remembers Michael Douglas. Jeffrey answers Morgan Freeman. Those
were John's two answers. He goes on to select Anthony Hopkins. Jeffrey
gets the final answer. Air Force One - Harrison Ford.
John talks himself into accepting those answers, agonizing over his
pick of Hopkins. He'll accept them.
Michael Douglas? He's played the President.
Morgan Freeman? That's two.
Harrison Ford? Good grab there by Jeffrey.
The bribe is up a bit. $100,000. John wants to go for it.
Did Anthony Hopkins play the President?
HE SURE DID!
Chuck reveals the rule that the team is guaranteed their share of
$200,000 (40K for Lisa, 80K for the others). The 2 million topic
is Timeline. Jeffrey doesn't want to go. But John does. Lisa
appears pleased.
Terminator! Jeffrey takes it, and he is feels the need to challenge
John. Winner plays for 1.6 million.
"What animal has breedy called Jersey and Holstein?"
John is in. He is right with cows. Jeffrey leaves with 20K in
termincator plus the 80K.
For 2 million dollars: Which 4 of the following happened
before MTV debuted?

Sarah Michelle Gellar is born
U.S. men's hockey team defeats Soviets(!) for Olympic Gold
Barney Clark receives artifical heart
Post-Its introduced
Michael Jackson releases Thriller
Lisa opens up the picks with "Studio 54". Back to John who picks
"Macintoch". Lisa gets the next pick "Post-its". John's final
selection is "US Hockey". John wants to switch one, and he wants
to switch to Gellar. He changes post-its.
Did Studio 54 open before MTV hit the airwaves? It did!
The gold medal? It happened before.
Was Sarah Michelle Gellar born before MTV? She was.
Bribe time. The Jaguar. The trunk is loaded with $75,000 dollars,
and is worth a total of $150,000. Both make their decision
individually.
Lisa? She is taking the car.
John? So is he.
Was it a good decision?
John made a change, but he changed the wrong one. Post-its was
pre-MTV.
Lisa has $190,000 in cash and vehicle, and John has $230,000.
That's all for this very entertaining episode of Supper Greed. Back
on Tuesday!

Did anyone else notice that Chuck kept reading after both players had rung
in? He headn't gotten to the title of the album yet. I was actually
thinking Garth Brooks until that.

Naw, not a problem. There *is* a small amount of food energy in Diet Coke.
But, FDA regulations say you're supposed to
round calorie counts to the nearest 5 calories (or 10, above some fairly
high level). That's how you get zero.
Before those regulations went into effect, a few years back, the answer was
pretty muddled.
Coke listed a 12 oz. can as having *2* 6 z. servings, each with
1 calorie. So, you could argue that either 1or 2 would be a correct answer.

I don't know why this team didn't go on. They got a pretty easy topic for
the $1M (advertising), they had the freebie,
they had terminated the weak link of the team, and the two guys both seemed
very confident and sharp, especially Dennis.
I think they had a good shot at it.
I was particularly impressed with *how* they handled the "Grease" question.
In the end, it was was clear that each member
of the team knew all the answers, but note how each player chose the *least*
obvious answer remaining during their turn, thus maximizing
the information given to the next player, and minimizing the chance of
another team member screwing up. Players 1 and 2 chose the album tracks,
and Dennis chose the minor hit, leaving the captain with the Top-10 smash
and the wrong answers.
This would have been fun to see with Dennis as the captain.
What do you all think of getting rid of the qualifier? It saves a lot of
time, but it was nice how the qualifier made it a little
more likely that the captain wasn't a complete idiot.

I just have to say that if you've seen "Grease" once, or know of the
songs from the soundtrack.radio, this was easy... Thank god the
question wasn't based on some obscure poll...

Even though we already know the answer, FYI:
Michael Douglas --> The American President
Morgan Freeman --> Deep Impact
Harrison Ford --> Air Force One (as stated earlier when chosen)
Anthony Hopkins --> Nixon
The thing that came to mind when they locked in their answers was the
Mac answer as well. However, I always thought that Post-it notes were
invented in the 80's. Then again, I was too young and nieve to
remember.
Also, we should note that tonights last Terminator was played for the
biggest share so far: $1,600,000.
Had it been Regular Greed, it would only be $800,000.
I still can't believe they went for it though. Then again, maybe I'm
in shock besause I wanted to see them use those blasted buttons to
vote.
Again, congrats and props to Lisa and John. Two Jags with $75,000
"options" and $200,000 + misc. Terminator money is a nice piece of
change (and not to mention a REALLY NICE SET OF WHEELS)!!

Yes, it does save time that way. Even if we go back to garden-variety Greed
in June, I hope some of these new changes remain in effect.

That one guy must have started following Chuck's career on December 28,
1981--the day we first met Pat Sajak.

What makes advertising an easy category? If the writers wanted, they could
write an advertising question that was very easy, or next to impossible. Same
with any category.
Jason, are you 20-something, or are you 12? Sometimes, I
really don't know who's worse, you or Zach. "Rambling" is
exactly what you do in your follow-ups.

The $500,000 question had them naming 4 out of 7 popular cheeses.
Well, I doubt they are gone for good, but all of the comments from folks on
the newsgroup do not fall on deaf ears. :-)

No, the $500,000 had to do the the 4 most popular cheeses according to
