* THE PRICE IS RIGHT: THE PRICING GAMES FROM A TO (ALMOST) Z *
* Number 1 in a series -- collect all 75! *
*************************************************************************
* Game Name: ADD 'EM UP *
* When Played: Mid 1980's (Retired) *
* Played for: Car *
* Staging: Car behind door 3, game board behind giant price tag, *
* car price board behind car *
* Models used: Janice Pennington *
* Props: The game board (which looked like a giant plus sign in *
* green and white) held markers for digits 0 to 9, a vertical *
* addition column which could add four single digits (and three *
* pairs of segment LED's for the totals), and a card with a *
* digit total on it. Behind the car was a scoreboard with five *
* number panels, which would display a dollar sign and four digits *
* or a five-digit price (never used). *
* Gameplay: The contestant had to guess the numbers that were in the *
* price of the car. The contestant was given a sum total of the *
* price's digits (if the car was $8157, the sum would be 21). The *
* player was given any of the four digits in the price for free. *
* That number was lit up over the car, and Janice would place the *
* digit into the addition column. The player then guessed the *
* remaining numbers, one by one, as correct entries went into the *
* addition column. If a player guessed two incorrect numbers, the *
* game ended and the player did not win the car. Logic often *
* prevailed, in instances where two numbers were left and the *
* player could choose one number from the board, and if it was *
* wrong, effectively eliminate its addend from the board. If two *
* numbers adding up to 10 remained, 5 was a bad choice. *
* The nifty scoreboard was later used in "Pathfinder". *
* Next: ANY NUMBER *
