Forgive me if this topic has been brought up before,(which i'm sure it
has), but where is Miss Arlene Francis living now? I know she's still
alive , but that's all i know. I also wonder if anyone knows the last
time she was seen publicly? Thank You to whoever responds.

Scott

Arlene is living in a nursing home in the West (California, I believe). Sadly,
she has been suffering from Alzheimer's Disease for several years now.

By the way, on the SCTV they were showing last night on NBC's Later, someone
was playing Arlene Francis from Whats My Line, and she got gobbled up by some
"TV Energy Ball". Overall it was a pretty dumb skit. Why are they playing
such stupid skits from SCTV, most of them not even TV parodies, which were what
was FUNNY on SCTV. They are showing the lame skits they did, which overall
stunk. Wheres "High Q", "The Fishing Musician", and more Ed Grimley skits?

I think they're following the eps in order of air date (some people out
there are going, "well, DUH!"). So they might get to it soon, as SCTV
probably hasn't found it's niche yet. They're still working out the
sitcom kinks.

Things I'm Enjoying at the moment:
* Iced sassafras tea and listening to Leon Redbone albums.

Things I'm not Enjoying at the Moment:
* Insomnia...(And when I do get to sleep, the uber-wierd gs related

* The fact that the college radio station is closed for the rest of the
semester.

That kind of sucks tho, because from what I heard they were just doing it for
January, I hope they go past January if thats the case.

If she's still alive, I'd like to see her in one of those Old Navy ads.

Since she is in a nursing home at age 90 in CA, I highly doubt it...Cat

In those ads, who is the woman with the huge glasses?

Previously on a.t.g-s, John Sergent quoted someone talking about Arlene
Francis:

That would be retired fashion journalist Carrie Donovan. Her first appearance
in an Old Navy spot was the "Magic's Fashion Show" series last year. (Magic's
the dog.)

Personally, I think the Old Navy spots are among the stupdiest on the air. I
have to wince to hear Bill Wendell's voice on those.

She is Carrie Donovan, the longtime (now retired) fashion editor for
The New York Times.
