How many (this is the CBS and syndie run, by the way), have you seen
smoking on MG? Cigars and pipes don't count, as Charles likes to
do...But I mean cigarettes. I have seen these celebs smoke:
Richard Dawson (like a chimney)
Brett Somers (who in a humorous question later in the run was
mentioned on Charles's card as "quit smoking")
Mitzi McCall
Fannie Flagg (I saw smoke coming out of her mouth talking)
Patty Duke
I have also been told that Gary Burghoff smoked on the show, but I've
never seen it...
I have heard just the opposite about Gary, that he hated smoking , but i may be
wrong.

Add Scoey Mitchell to that list.

Was this before he gained the weight? Im just assuming he quit later on, hence
the weight gain....
Just a guess( from a smoker whos been there)
I've had many friends who smoke heavily tell me not to (and it's really
wasted words -- I'm allergic to cigarette smoke) even with a cigarette
in their mouth.

An interesting tidbit about Dawson's smoking: it was his young daughter who
convinced him to quit smoking. It was at that time when he put on all that
weight...
He also mentioned it on his comeback on "Family Feud" in 1994. I have that ep.

Just a side note to Richard Dawson smoking (he also smoked on the opening
credits to Hogan's Heroes, BTW)--by the time he returned to Family Feud
in 1994, he had quit smoking (and had also mellowed out. according to
reports; he was much easier to work with and got along better with the
producers, et al, than he did when the original FF ended in 1985).
