(Spoiler Space for those who have not yet seen August 1 show)
Charles, the returning champion, lost in the Pot of Gold round. Mark
Goodman said that if he had defended his title for the fifth time, he
would be retired into the Hall of Fame. What would happen the next week
after a champ retired since a returning player is needed for the end
game?

Y'know, I found that weird, because in 1996, there was one champ who was on IIR
for seventeen consecutive shows. Maybe not 17 times in a row, but it was
definitely much more than the "five weeks" that Charles was seemingly allowed.
BTW, I love that new commercial for The All-New Star-Studded Big-Money Illinois
Lotto ;) (Sigh, I remember when Lotto Fever spread like wildfire in Illinois
when a jackpot rolled over to $41 million one week during the '80s...)
- Jeremy If you think Reggie White is a jackass, gimme a HELL YEAH~!

Buddy, Andre, Kerry Von Erich, Eddie Gilbert, JYD, Flyin' Brian ... Sigh ...
LINDA KOHLMEYER SUCKS!!!
LOSE HER.
Thank you very much.
Jack
No, Allan Seals (the original host of IIR's predecessor, $100,000 Fortune Hunt)
sucked. That's why he was replaced in 1992. Then the Illinois Lottery realized
that Fortune Hunt itself kinda sucked (pick numbers, win dollar amount, player
with the most at the end of 6 rounds wins the game), so that's when they moved
on to IIR.
Even so, Linda Kollmeyer has been a part of the Illinois Lottery for over ten
years, and personally I don't think she sucks. She's pretty good, actually - I'm
kinda glad that they've recently let her do a bit more speaking.
Lori Montana, OTOH, well... Let's just say I miss Desiree Rogers. :)

I think I remember, too. A person named Paul who racked up something over $300K
in eight or so weeks. They must have added a limit after him because I remember a
contestant from Beloit, WI (I get excited to see contestants from outside
Illinois), and she also lost on what would have been her final week.

I live in Missouri about 15 minutes from a bridge into Illinois and I remember
many visits to a convenience store at the first Illinois exit off I-270 years
ago. Now Powerball has taken over and Illinois Lotto is just another game.
Back to my original question--does anybody know the fate of IIR in four weeks?
