I took a look at the GSN schedule for 7/1 and saw the following changes:

All Times Eastern:

8:00AM Family Feud (Dawson)
8:30AM The New Newlywed Game (Eubanks)
9:00AM Match Game (Rayburn)
9:30AM Password (Ludden)
10:00AM The $100,000 Pyramid (Clark)
10:30AM Hollywood Showdown (Newton)
11:00AM Card Sharks (Perry)
11:30AM Tattletales (Convy)

These repeated, and the 4:00pm-8:00pm schedule stayed the same, until...

8:00PM Family Feud (Dawson)
8:30PM Family Feud (Dawson)
9:00PM Match Game (Rayburn)
9:30PM Match Game (Rayburn)
10:00PM The Newlywed Game (Eubanks)
10:30PM The New Newlywed Game (Eubanks)
11:00PM All New 3's a Crowd (Thicke)
11:30PM Hollywood Showdown (Newton)

The shows I know of that are missing are:

Wheel of Fortune
Jeopardy!
Mall Masters
Hot Potato
The Joker's Wild
The $25,000 Pyramid
Celebrity Family Feud

Saturday 7/7 has the same schedule from 8:00AM-8:00PM, but from 8:00PM through
4:00AM is the weekday nighttime schedule.

Sunday, everything is the same from 8:00AM-8:00PM until these changes:

8:00PM The $100,000 Pyramid (Clark)
8:30PM Hollywood Showdown (Newton)
9:00PM Win TV/Family Feud (Dawson)
9:30PM I've Got a Secret (Moore)
10:00PM To Tell the Truth (Collyer)
10:30PM Password (Ludden)
11:00PM The Joker's Wild (Barry)
11:30PM Match Game (Rayburn)

Missing are:

Both versions of 3's a Crowd

This is extremely puzzling to me. Why would GSN do this with their schedule. My
guess is maybe this is just a temporary filler, because the schedule is stopped
at Sunday 7/8. Strange.

Iff all that stuff below is true, there's really no excuse for it. Whether we as
fans like this latest set of changes or not, this schedule reshuffling every couple
of weeks has gotta stop. Blockbusters was on for what, a week? And now the
Password and Card Sharks blocks have already been replaced? This is no way to run
a schedule, regardless of the relative quality of the shows.

The schedule mentioned had the 4PM-8PM shows intact. But why the heck would GSN
get rid of WOF and J!, Sony's flagship shows, and even $25K Pyramid and CBS
Joker's Wild and Mall Masters.

I don't think the schedule in question is right, it's just a bad error on GSN's
website part.

One more thing. If I counted right, this new schedule would mean that with all the
programming and library of product GSN has available to them, the entire schedule
as of 7/1 would include various runs of exactly twelve unique games (two of them
"original"). Surely that would be the fewest different games on the schedule in
GSN history.

My apologies, I didn't catch that the late afternoon blocks remain unchanged. In
fact, that almost makes the rest of the schedule make a little more sense, since it
would appear that Feud, Match Game and Newlywed are also getting the "block"
treatment.

As for Wheel and Jeopardy!, I guess the logic might be that the two shows haven't
been rested since the network debuted, and both are easily available five days a
week (or more) on your local station. Still, just on principle, I don't like this
constant tinkering with the schedule.

This isn't good. They're axing $25K Pyramid in favor of a second airing of
$100K, axing CBS TJW which we're lucky to even see again. Good news: Mall
Masters and HP are gone.

I don't like the schedule change even though there will be some G-T shows in
the mornings. I like to watch CBS Joker's Wild everyday in afternoons as
well as The $25,000 Pyramid. I watch Jeopardy on GSN occasionally as well as
Hot Potato. And I watch Family Feud regulary even though it will not be
affected.

Let's assume that this schedule (as far as shows) is correct, we may assume
that the hosts are different. (Match Game with Shaffer AND Rayburn, instead
of two Rayburn versions. I think GSN believes in variety as much as we do,
and 12 unique shows is certainly not variety). But, as was mentioned, axing
some of Sony's BIG shows is a sign of joking, and completely re-arranging
the schedule seems odd to me.

If it is true, also, we'll see the addition of another half hour to "Sunday
Night in Black and White", though.

It certainly seems odd to relegate WoF and J! to weekend duty only. What I'm
wondering is whether the shift of CS from primetime to daytime affects the
possible airing of the last NBC episode later on in the month. Granted, GSN
did keep the running order the same when CS was moved to evenings to begin
with. But there's more of an interest among the some of us who wanted to get
the final show on tape and either didn't already have it or have a
multi-generational copy of it.

My thoughts after the fact are that since they are getting rid of the
G-T library (we must assume this is still true since there have been no
announcements made about the library miraculously being renewed), they
want to put on whatever they can of that library. Once they lose those
rights, then you'll see all the other shows like $25K PYramid, Wheel,
Jeopardy, etc. come back. I could always be wrong.

I don't think the Password/Bob blocks are affected b/c they fall under the
unchanging 4-8 bracket. Also, one should remember that 7/1 is a Sunday....

Alright, I took a look at the sked on site, which doesn't take into effect until
2/July, not 1/July as posted here. I noticed that no celebs are listed, as they
usually are for shows like the Pyramids, the Match Games, the TTTTs, and the
Passwords. Hmm... Pretty oddish, but (and I'm theorizing here) could be
indicative that this is not set in stone just yet.

I can't imagine a Game Show Network owned by Sony not including their two most

revivals of Newlywed and Dating, even when they returned to their original
formats in season two, were marginal successes at best.

Err... these changes are coming from GSN's schedule as it's currently

Either this is what they are planning starting 7/2/01 -- or they know we
like to look ahead at the GSN schedule at the website and they're
yanking our chain. :)

I've said this many, many times, but here's a thread where it bears repeating yet again.

The ONLY official schedule for GSN is the one that you can access normally through their website. If you
type in a URL for a later date, you need to remember that that schedule is not "official" and could be
subject to change. There's a human being typing in those listings, and that person is only concerned that
the normally accessible information is accurate. At least once, that person even deliberately put in wrong
information as an April Fool prank, but corrected it in time for it to appear on the website. I think it's
safe to say that incomplete or accidentally misleading information will be stored there too.

Having said that, let me also add that the changes under discussion are imminent. They may not, however,
be exactly what you see right now. We'll know for sure when it gets a lot closer.

Oh, and the Family Feud special is still on. Trust me.

Well, sure, yank my disclaimer where I said that someone at GSN might be
pulling our chain... makes it easier to sound authoritative. :)

That being said, I think they'll LOSE audience if the schedule on the
website happens.

Of course, you have to keep in mind that this is probably not final,
because we're all forgetting four words.

LET'S MAKE A DEAL.

Didn't Steve Beverly (IFOS) quote Monty Hall as saying he thought LMAD
would go on GSN fairly quickly?

Wild guess: LMAD debuts July 2, and that's the LAST thing GSN wants us
to know right now. :)

>Oh, and the Family Feud special is still on. Trust me.

I'll take your word for it. I really can't believe they'd even think of
pulling Game Show Saturday Night, so why wouldn't it be "on"?

Rob

P.S. I had another thought. Since the person who maintains the GSN
website is believed to read here, is it possible (s)he saw all the
messages to Mr. Cronin asking for this, that, and the other and created
a schedule based on those people who aren't satisfied yet -- as a prank?

Just when I thought things were getting better....how do you know the
changes are actually imminent? Can't they leave the damn schedule
alone for once? It's not too bad right now. All it really needs is
some minor tweaking here and there, NOT a major overhaul. If this
happens, it's definately the worst thing they've done for quite a
while. This network seems to be going more downhill by the day - I
can only hope that these changes are a mistake and WON'T actually take
place.

Re. "Joker's Wild" and other shows - it would be nice if they could
actually finish a run for once. They've got so many shows in their
library they've shown only part of, and yank it off the schedule
before it's done. Shows like "Password Plus", "Break the Bank",
"$25,000 Pyramid" and many others either they keep re-starting from
the beginning, or take it off totally and don't bring it back. It
would be nice to actually see a complete run of something.

They're pretty close to that with Card Sharks(Perry), less than two months to
the end. Hot Potato of course, they're in the third cycle.

There are a few things they could do(Ax Hot Potato, ax the 10AM Showdown
airings, and maybe replace one Dawson Feud airing and the 4PM repeat of 11PM
Newlywed Game). But really, it's not a bad daily schedule. Most of the work
they could do on the schedule is for the weekend schedule.

God, I hope not. I'm getting into the CBS run of "TJW" and "Hot Potato!" (Yes,
I just got the network about two months ago; I haven't seen the run yet!)

Can you imagine their ratings? Only 12 different games? Come on, it's a game
show network; therefore, there should be way more than 12 game shows on it!

Well, if this is true, and GSSN is gone (I've really got into those, too!),
then I guess it's on to either Nick GAS, or actually doing something productive

i guess many people are match game fans because on the new schedules on whoever
type it has match game with rayburn 1 or 2 per schedule. Anyhoo, what match
game rayburn version will have on 9:30 PM on the weekdays and 11:30 PM on
Sunday? Is it the CBS or daily syndicated versions and where will they start in
those versions?
