WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?
Thursday, July 20, 2000
Twenty-one years ago, a bunch of guys from the space program landed on the
moon. However, two days ago PREVIOUSLY ON MILLIONAIRE:
We had to pull out the damage control all throughout the hour to clean up the
three casualties on the way to the million. In the last two shows, there have
been six contestants. Only one contestant cleared question 10.
This time, Jim Lairmore will try his best to climb up that ladder towards the
million. The question of the night is...
WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?
8 women make up the 10 players waiting in the wings.
Jim works for the Pomona police department in California. He's into computers.
In fact, he worked in the intelligence area in the Air Force. He was a Russian
interpreter who learned from Russian defectors!
Rundown: Jim has $2000. 9 away from the million.
He has locked in $1000... four more right answers lock in $32,000.
All three LifeLines remain.

He has no idea, but he'll take the 50/50 anyway. May the 50/50 have mercy on
Jim:
C. REM D. Red Hot Chili Peppers

95% knew "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?" from the 1930s, 96% knew Sinatra's
"Love and Marriage" as the theme of "Married, With Children," and only 54% knew
that this year's Republican convention was in Philadelphia. Granted, the last
of the three carried the highest dollar value, but this audience seems to be
much more knowledgeable about pop culture than current events!

Right on the button, Jeremy -- Webster's New World Dictionary's definition
of "tome" is "1. Originally, any volume of a work of several volumes. 2. A
book, especially a large one."

True -- but, as I recall, the last time Webster's New World Dictionary ever
got a plug on a game show was in 1958 on a show called "Top Dollar"!

I'd give it a shot, but the last time an IRS employee won $1 million on the
show, he ended up losing all his annual leave because of having to take time
off from work to make all those personal appearances afterward!
Michael Brandenburg
(IRS employee since 1984 -- and he didn't get to take his wife to Paris as a
result!)
