I haven't watched Sesame Street in 15+ years, so, does anyone know if they
still do Guy Smiley game show skits? I imagine that these were done when GS
were popular in the 70s/80s, and maybe have not been done for the past 10 years
or so with game shows going "out of style", but, maybe, with the recent
renassanse they'll "come back". Maybe do the "Sesame Squares" or "Who wants
to count to a Million?"

The last Muppet sketch with Guy Smiley was broadcast in 1990, shortly after
Jim Henson's death. A newer Muppet character, Sonny Friendly, has been
featured in game show sketches on _Sesame_Street_, usually with Maria.
I suggest writing to CTW on the matter.

I can't answer your question, as I also haven't seen Sesame Street in
probably as long s you, but, geez, did your post bring back memories
for me! I, too, remember the Guy Smiley game show skits, although I
must admit I haven't thought of them in years. Thanks for rekindling
the memories of my youth.

Only one place where you can see practically all of Guy's shows -
Noggin! (Wish I had it!)

My Digital Cable service is supposed to add Noggin soon, but I'm not
sure when...will have to phone the cable company to find out exactly
when. Geez, between GSN and now Noggin, I feel like I'm getting a real
trip down Memory Lane! :-)

Sesame Street still uses ALL of their old stuff, as far as I can tell, and as
of maybe 2 years ago. But "Who Wants to Count to a Million" would take too long.

Actually, "Family Food" was hosted by... Richard Dawson.

Other GS parodies I remember from that show:

To Tell a Face (just like TTTT, a baby muppet had to identify his
grandmother by her picture)
Beat the Time (they had a quite a few sketches of the BTC parody)
What's My Part (just like WML- the part was a NOSE)
What's My Letter (see above- letter was X)
The Mystery Mix-Up Game- a scrambled word game where the contestant won
some ODD prizes (including a COW)
The Trading Game (LMAD- Oscar the Grouch and anything muppet. Anything
muppet ends up winning a dirty rag, which is what Oscar wanted)
They also had a Concentration parody, which featured the debut of Cookie
Monster, but I can't think of the name of it. Cookie Monster loses out on
winning a cookie, and ends up with a jet plane.

I think a good one fora new episode would be for Regis to come on SS and have
the Count as a contestant on "Who wants to count to a million?"

Actually, I've come up with the concept of mixing humans and Muppets to
come up with the Muppet Match Game. Guy Smiley hosts, and the panel
consists of two humans and four Muppets. Either there would be
three "regular" Muppets, or four or five rotating in those three
spots. You could either have it be a kids' show with younger
contestants, or aim it more towards teens and adults (like Muppets
Tonight).

Imagine the following intro...
"Get ready to match the Muppets!
Jason Alexander...
Miss Piggy...
Fozzie Bear...
Vicki Lawrence...
Kermit The Frog...
And Spamela Hamderson...
As we play the star-studded, big money Muppet Match Game.
And now here's the host of Muppet Match Game, Guy Smiley!"

(Note: It works even better if you imagine a chorus of chickens
clucking the melody over the MG '7x theme song... :-) )

Have you sent your suggestion to Children's Television Workshop?

I think it's a great idea!
