Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

On my night off from work, I happened to catch America One through our
Buffalo affiliate (low power channel 58) and witnessed the cheesiest half
hour of TV gameshowdom...The Million Dollar Word Game.
Ian Jamieson is the WORST host I've ever seen (the only reason he's host
is b/c he's executive producer too). He can barely ad lib and merely just
chuckles after each response and when he comes out on stage (after
announcing himself I think).
He's such a nasty flirt to the female contestants, greeting the first
one with a kiss, then offering hugs after the woman said she needed one b/c
she was nervous.
He also can't quietly tell a contestant to walk off the stage when he's
done as the music plays...I detect b/c he also co wrote the music.
And another thing....when someone else comes up with a clever line, he
says "oh, that's good improv." Give me a break!!!
That's it--this makes any Stone Stanley game for USA look halfway decent
(I never thought I'd see the day).
If you like cheesiness in your GS, and you have America One, check him
out--I will, only to mock him out.

I've seen the show, too. I really wonder how they can afford to give
away $1,000,000, $500,000, etc. Mr. Ian said that they are going to
have a top prize of $5,000,000! next "round of tapings."

I think that the only way they could give these prizes away is to buy
some type of risk insurance policy, like a college would do for a
basketball promotion where someone has to make a basket from the
opposite free-throw line. Getting past all 14 levels of the show seems
to be almost as impossible for the contestants who they choose to be on
the show. I've only seen one person get to level 10.

Earlier this week, I saw someone go all the way to Level 14, before becoming
unable to unscramble "bicentennial."

Did Ian explain how the prize banks would work if the contestant got
Level 14 right? How many words did the contestant have to make out of
the word "bicentennial"?

Also, where did he/she get to go on vacation for winning Level 10? Did
they actually tell us about the trip (airline, hotel, etc.), or did
they just open the envelope and show one of those stills (i.e.
Magnificent Rome)?

Not that I noticed.

>How many words did the contestant have to make out of

The word was scrambled, and he had to recognize it.

>Also, where did he/she get to go on vacation for winning Level 10?

He got a trip to London.

I didn't notice them telling about the trip. He didn't even get a picture.
All he saw was a card with the word "London" on it.

So, despite all the reservations that people have expressed about the
show, just how exactly does it work? What do the contestants have to do,
what options do they have, what's the game, what can the contestants
win, what's wrong with the show?

I guess I'm after a Lambert/Mackey/Soria-style description of the
show... (and all the other new ones that have started, or are starting
soon, in the US. And how nice it is that there are so many of the things
at the moment!)

Have a good weekend!

First for those that don't know this show can be viewed at
http://www.americaone.com

Secondly, while looking at their web site I noticed this under the variety
show section so I paste it here:

The Ian & Clare Show
This half-hour, talk/variety show features Ian Jamieson of The Lonely Chef
and his girlfriend/co-host Clare. Feature segments include, guest
interviews, comedy sketches and a look into the relationship between Ian &
Clare. The drama continues on a day-to-day basis on The Ian & Clare Show

Now I haven't watched it (the cooking show) but is this the same guy?

Yes, it is the same guy! In fact, Clare is listed on the credits of
MDWG as a producer. This is getting even more interesting the more I
learn.

Makes me wonder which Canadian channel was stupid enough to air Ian
Jamieson's programs.

I happened to be in Turks & Caicos where Ian Jamieson lives in a $75 million dollar waterfront mansion. He is the producer of over 3,500 television shows that have been in syndication for many years and reach a daily audience of approximately 175, million people daily. At some time or other all major USA networks have carried his shows as they have in Canada and in over 60 other countries.

I found him to be very interesting, humorous and extremely handsome as he entertained some of the biggest names in showbiz that night at his mansion. He was escorted by the most beautiful young woman who has been his girlfriend for the last five years. She is a well known supermodel from Spain.

My wife and I also had a tour of his unique underwater recording studio. Not many people know but he is the highest paid recording star in history, bypassing all the traditional record reporting standards. He has recently signed two $250 million dollar recording contracts which are the richest in the world.

He is currently working on the premise for a new television show called "Stupid" which is something like "The Gong Show". "Stupid" has been sold in 15 countries in Europe and I am sure we will see it some time in the future in the USA.

Both my wife and I like the episode that we saw which was so "Stupid" it made us laugh till we cried.

Another hit I guess for Ian Jamieson.
