In 1998, Prevue Channel had Peter Marshall for an “intervue”. Film critic Jim Ferguson was asking him questions about The Reel to Reel Picture Show. Peter was bitter and dismissed the game show (and home game). Jim said “I actually played the Reel to Reel home game with a few friends who are also movie buffs. We had a blast.” Peter then promoted “his old show”, as Hollywood Squares was NEW! NEW! NEW! that fall. Apparently following’ the 1998 rebrand, Prevue Channel was simply called “Peevue”, and Intervue may have been called by another name. Anyways, I do remember Peter Marshall being interviewed on Prevue.

Last Happy New Year bump of ATGS!!!
I finally found footage of this interview. Both Jim and Peter looked pissed. Peter admitted he wasn’t even considered for the host of the Hollywood Squares revival, and that “someone who hosted one show on expanded cable for one year” was selected. Jim felt like the writing was on the wall when Prevue Networks bought TV Guide that year and that Peevue would be replaced by TV Guide Channel soon enough.
Turns out this interview was for the “Prevue This” segment on Peevue. Jim opened the segment with “I’m Jim Ferguson for Peevue—what kind of a fucked up name is that?!?”
Can’t say I’m surprised the interview went badly. Jim was worried about being let go, and Peter knew Reel to Reel was crap. It made The Movie Masters look like Match Game 73 by comparison!
