From Bob's saying, "Aces are wild. Make them anything." Could you
draw an ace and make it a negative card, aka $-2100?

He never said you COULDN'T, but I have yet to see a contestant do that.

On an older version of the game, he used to say "You can make them anything
you want, from $1 to $1000." So I'm assuming you can make them anything
greater than zero, still.

I guess because of time constraints, Bob doesn't read a lot of the rules in
detail anymore. Remember, at the 1st IUFB, he used to say "I'd like one bid
from each of you in dollars only, because we round our actual retail prices
to the nearest dollar. The one of you who bids nearest to the actual retail
price of that prize wins it and comes up on stage to play another pricing
game." Whew! That's a mouthful.. and I guess meant to distinguish the new
PIR's "one-bid-item" approach to the old Cullen auction-type bidding. All
the extra time for those arthritis, adult diaper and diabetes care
commercials has to come from somewhere....

So, Charles Atkinง.... is that your final answer?

>From Bob's saying, "Aces are wild. Make them anything." Could you
>draw an ace and make it a negative card, aka $-2100?

Nope. You must make it a positive value. However, ever since they dumped the
orange table, you are not obligated to use it when you draw it.

The lesson to be learned here is not to keep drawing cards after you
play the ace.

Given that contestants base their playing on their
understanding of Barker's explanation, rather than a written
rules briefing, what *can't* "anything" be $-2100?

I don't think so. Has to be at least $1 if used.

How many would think that far ahead?

Also,

WHY does he have the players CUT the cards, when they get spread out & picked
randomly ANYWAY! Just seems to be a waste of time. I guess he has the player
do that during his "10s & face cards are $1,000" etc. schpeil (or however you
spell schpiel)

Bill McD.

I think it's done just for effect. It has little if any bearing on the outcome
of the game.
