In first going into Final Jeopardy the player won 71% of matches*
In second going into FJ the player won 22% of matches**
In third going into FJ the player won 6% of matches.
* The first place players 67/94 includes a tie between 1st and 2nd
** The second place players 21/94 includes two ties between 2nd and 3rd place
Brian Dominy later wondered how games where the person in first place had a
lock would affect the statistics.
Using the same 94 regular games 9/97 - 2/98 there were 21 games where the
contestant in the lead could not be caught. Throwing those games out leaves 73
games to change the percentages to:
1st = 46/73 = 63%
2nd = 21/73 = 28%
3rd = 6/73 = 8%
