I was just looking at the Gong Show Fan Page and it mentioned that Chuck
Barris' daughter Della past away last year.

Does anyone know how she died?

Suicide. I believe she and Chuck had just reconciled (sp?) after a long
estrangement. Somebody posted the article here. Would that person care to do
so again?

NATIONAL ENQUIRER....

"Gong Show" star Chuck Barris is heartbroken over the tragic death of his
daughter. Sadly, Della Barris died from a suspected drug overdose just
months after pushing her father out of her life.

"My little baby girl -- where did I go wrong? Why did she have to die?"
Chuck cried out when he heard the shocking news.

Troubled Della, 35, was found dead by Los Angeles Police in the early hours
of July 28 at her Brentwood condominium.

In recent months she shut herself off from her father and her friends.

"Chuck is absolutely devastated," a family insider revealed.

"At this point, it appears that Della died of an overdose, possibly of drugs
and alcohol.

"Now Chuck may never know if the pain was just too much for Della, and
whether or not she decided to take her own life."

Scott Carrier, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office,
told The ENQUIRER: "Outwardly, it appears that Della's death could possibly
be a suicide.

"Right now, L.A.P.D. detectives are conducting an ongoing investigation and
they are ruling Della's death a 'questionable overdose.'"

Chuck was in France when he got word of Della's death.

His relationship with Della had volatile highs and lows.

They were estranged for 18 years. But they reconciled two years ago, after
Della was diagnosed as being HIV-positive.

"I love my dad more than anything else in the whole world," Della told The
ENQUIRER back then, in her last interview.

Their reconciliation came after Chuck wrote Della a letter apologizing for
their rift.

Della told the insider: "The day I received that letter from Dad, my life
changed forever." TWO YEARS AGO Della and her dad had a tearful reunion
after 18 years apart. Later they had a tearful reunion at Mezzaluna
restaurant in Brentwood.

"When we saw each other, we just raced into each others' arms and stood
there crying, holding each other for a good five minutes."

But the family insider said the reunion between father and daughter fell
apart recently: "Della had a setback and she shut off from her father and
everyone else who cared about her.

"Della hadn't talked to her dad that much throughout the late spring and
early summer.

"No one but Della will ever know what went through her mind in those last
days and hours. But one thing is for sure -- Chuck's love for his only
daughter never wavered."

A crushed and devastated Chuck told the family insider:

"I feel like a piece of my heart has been ripped away, forever."

Could that song Chuck Barris recorded called "I Know A Child" have been about
Della Barris?
