Any suggestion?

Actually Dick I attended a taping about ten years ago and we stayed at a
motel just a block or two from CBS Television City in Hollywood. I forget
the name of it but it was like a motor lodge with two levels and it was
certainly not expensive. By the way, be prepared to stand in line for
hours, beginning early in the morning, if you want to see The Price is
Right. We showed up at about 8 am and there were already many people there.
But once the show starts it's really a lot of fun!

ME: You want the Farmer's Daughter Motel, which is on Fairfax Avenue,
one block south of Beverly Blvd. It's not fancy but it's clean and
inexpensive. You should be able to get the number from Information --
213 area code -- and it's right across the street from CBS. (CBS is
at the intersection of Beverly and Fairfax.)
I live right near CBS and I stayed at the Farmer's Daughter last year
when I was having some construction work done and needed to vacate my
home for two nights.

I believe you are referring to the Beverly Laurel Motor Hotel at
8018 Beverly Boulevard (213 651-2441), an easy walk from Television
City. I stayed there for about ten days three years ago, and found it
quite pleasant for what it was. The price was about $50/day (probably a
little higher now). One advantage it has is its own small underground
garage, which beats the heck out of trying to park in the area streets
(even on the side streets there are restrictions, even if there are
spaces).
Another nearby motel is the Farmer's Daughter Motor Hotel at 115 South
Fairfax Avenue (213 937-3930). I've never stayed there but I've seen
favourable writeups about it in some budget travel guides.
I stayed there for 3 days back in November '95 when Letterman was in
L.A.
taping a week's worth of shows from CBS Television City. It was quite
a nice, pleasant place to stay. It was just over $50 a night (quite a
bargain). The underground garage was a little on the crampped side,
since
we were in the Aerostar. Other than that, it was a real nice place to
stay -
and within walking distance of CBS Televison City (just a block or two
away).
