(Sorry this late, but my news server was pretty erratic yesterday)

With CTV showing The Sound of Music in the evening and the NBA all
afternoon, they didn't air WWTBAM today. I fall to the mercy of ABC
for tonight's show. But since there is now a President-Elect, I should
be able to watch this without much trouble, unless there are
problems with the storms in Buffalo.

Joel Reid is the returning contestant on the final regular edition
of Millionaire of the year. Joel works at the University of Alabama.
He got the first 10 questions right last Thursday. Joel was a previous
contestant when Jason Block won his way out the fastest finger
circle. As for lifelines, all Joel has left is the ability to phone
a friend.

Let's play!

For $64,000: In 1996, Whitewater alternate juror Barbara Adams gained
media attention after wearing what to court?

A) Bathing suit B) Catcher's mask
C) Indian Headdress D) Star Trek uniform

One is jumping out at Joel. He is going to save his lifeline, and
answer D).

Barbara wore a Star Trek uniform.

For $125,000: Gymnophobia means a fear of what?

A) Nakedness B) Athletics
C) Women D) Sweat

He has heard the term before, but nothing is jumping out at him this
time. So, he is going to phone-a-friend. His sister Amy will get the
call. She, like Joel, is a computer programmer. He spells out the
word twice. "Oh, God" - Amy. "Well, she was a lot of hellp, wasn't
she?" - Joel.

He kinda rules out C) Women. He then says that he is torn between
A & D. He wants to determine the risk a final answer.

A) Nakedness. Final answer.

"By God! He got it right!" - Regis

For $500,000: The Fort McHenry flag that inspired "The Star-Spangled
Banner" had how many stars?

A) 14 B) 15 C) 17 D) 20

He gives a quick answer, and that answer is that he is going to walk
away with the $250,000. The correct answer was B) 15.

We meet the Group of Ten for tonight, and they are faced with this
fastest finger:

"Put these TV doctors in geographical order by where they primarily
practice medicine, starting in the west"

A) Peter Benton
B) Joel Fleischman
C) Quincy
D) Benjamin Gideon

BCD. Two of Ten right. 9.95 isn't fast enough most times, but it is
fast
enough to allow Mike Harvey to get in the hotseat. He knew the
first two, but guessed on the last ones.

He doesn't think it was Heston or Reeves. Time to PAF, and Mike will
call his niece, Dana. Quick in giving the answer C) Marlon Brando.
He'll go along with Dana and make Brando his final answer.

And a good final answer it was!

For $8000: What literary character was created by Edgar Rice
Burroughs?

A) Phantom of the Opera B) Tarzan of the Apes

Mike is a gambling man, but he isn't going to gamble $93,000. He's

B) would have been wrong. D) was correct.

Fastest Finger:

The key is the word "currently." Yes, Maryland and Virginia both gave up
land for the creation of the District of Columbia, but Virginia later
took its share back.

Well, you're right and you're wrong. Yes, Maryland and Virginia did
donate land that became the District of Columbia, but Virginia later took
its share back. (Remember, the question said "currently.")

Is Peter Benton from Chicago Hope?

Not E) the TattletalesMobile. B^)

After he waled away, Regis went on a bit about how he wished he could
give the guy more money. Um, Regis, you're making tons of money on this
show--YOU CAN! If he felt that strongly, he could have offered to
personally match what Mike donated to the hospice, and I'm sure he
wouldn't have missed it.

Just think...two months ago, this would have been a $500,000 question!

Same setting, different show. Peter Benton is a character on ER. I think
that's Eriq LaSalle's role, but I don't watch the show that often, or much of
any TV for that matter.

Still, the ONE and ONLY, Brandon Foster-Gray
(Who, for some reason, now goes by the name "Bemis")

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this now make Joel Reid the biggest winner
ever from the state of Alabama? If so I'm proud of him and that renews my hope
they'll call *me* back one day...

BTW Joel works at UAB (Birmingham) not the main Tuscaloosa campus as Regis
alluded...
