On tonight's "Strip Poker," they had two ties (both contestants
whistled in at once) in the Lightning Round. One question was "True or
False: After starring in 'Home Alone,' Macaulay Culkin danced in 'The
Nutcracker.' " (the tiebreaker was won by a woman, and she said False
[answer was True]), and the other was "Gonzo, Animal, and Elmo are all
types of...WHAT?" (a man won the tiebreaker, and he said Muppet
characters, and he was right). It was the first episode of "Strip
Poker" that I watched when they had two ties in the Lightning Round.
If anybody doesn't know the tiebreakers in the Lightning Round,
it's where both contestants whistled in at once. If this is the first
tie in the Lightning Round, the team who won the high-card toss up
backstage before the show started gets to call heads or tails while
Graham Elwood flips the coin. If the person is correct on heads or
tails, he/she gets to answer the question; if he/she is incorrect on
heads or tails, his/her opponent gets to answer the question. If
there's a second tie in the Lightning Round, then the heads/tails call
goes to the person who lost the backstage high-card toss-up.
Do you think the Lightning Round on "Strip Poker" should replace
whistles with buzzers on newer episodes?
Paul :-)
