... not that that's a bad strategy, if you hear the question and are
absolutely certain you have no chance of knowing it. 4% is better than 0%.

WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?
Tuesday, July 11, 2000

Tonight is July 11, or 7-11-2000. Sounds like a lucky day for someone tonight.
Besides, we East Coasters are going up against the MLB All-Star Game tonight.
So I hope your VCRs are rolling tonight.

PREVIOUSLY ON MILLIONAIRE:

Judy, mother of four, picks up $64,000, while Michael, dad of 2, picks up
$125,000. Tonight, it's the multi-talented Eric Lillianthal of Alexandria, VA.
Is he the one tonight to correct answer the question...

WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?

The rundown:
Eric has $16,000. 6 away from the mill.
One more right answer locks in $32,000.
Two LifeLines remain: 50/50 and Phone-a-Friend.

For $32,000:
Which TV talk show host WAS a VH1 VJ?
A. Rosie O'Donnell B. Ricki Lake
C. Montel Williams D. Queen Latifah

Looks like it's Jarrett that's the PAF.
Jarrett says "Hmmm. The obvious choice is Queen Latifah... well... it wasn't
Montel..." Hmmm. Seems inconclusive.

50/50: A. Rosie O'Donnell D. Queen Latifah

He totally guesses A.

And ...

He had $16,000.

He now has ...

$1000.

FFF: There is a visually impaired contestant tonight. The question and answers
will be read aloud first. Do NOT enter until you see the answers appear on the
screen.

Nobel Prize Peace Prize winners in REVERSE chronological order:
A. Desmund Tutu B. Menachim Begin
C. Doctors w/o Borders D. Dalai Lama

Correct answer: C-D-A-B
4 of 10, all with times under 2.5 seconds.
Winner: David Goodman, 1.58 seconds.

David Goodman is from Olney, MD. He's 24 years old, and he is a design
consultant for an environmental outfit in Virginia. Sis is here.

of Godzilla's enemies?
A. Cyclops B. Megalon C. King Kong D. The Smog Monster

He knows it's not B or C.

He mulls over A or D. After a bit of thinking, he settles on A.

Knowing he only risks his LifeLines here, he locks in A...

... and the free shot ...

... is ...

GOOD! He has SIXTY-FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS!

For $125,000: The 19th Century route which the US government forced Cherokee
Nation members to travel became known as what?

For $500,000:
What is the number of the US Congress currently in session (i.e. the nth
session)?
A. 104th B. 110th C. 106th D. 115th

Carefully computing it out, starting with Newt Gingrich in 1994, the 104th
Congress, he says C.

And he locks it in.

Well....

...

...

... he has FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS!

He STILL has all three LifeLines left.
He may need ALL of them for this MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION:

In the children's book series, where is Paddington Bear originally from?
A. India B. Peru C. Canada D. Iceland

The 50/50 leaves: B. Peru D. Iceland

Let's ATA: 57-42

And let's PAF. The PAF is Haggai. He is a Ph. D. student in math at UMich.

David thinks he knows this, but Haggai is called.

Haggai sounds like he's typing in something. He needs 10 seconds to say Peru.

David says Peru.

Yes, David says Peru.

Is Peru his Final Answer?

Yeah, it's his final answer.

Either way, his mother is going to be hysterically crying.

ONe of them is worth $32,000. The other, a million.

Did he choose the right one?

David Goodman...

from Olney, Maryland...

has just won ...

....

....

<Joey Styles> OH MY GOD! </Joey Styles>

....

A MILLION DOLLARS!

David Goodman has won one million dollars! He is now the youngest millionaire
on this show - and perhaps on any other show, for that matter.

Quick critique of the third tier questions:
64K -
good movie question, and it could have tripped some people up, including me.
125K -
easier than it looked, only because of its wording. The wording is such that
you could figure it out from the choices.
250K -
A VERY good 13 Club question. I did NOT know the answer to this one - and it's
a good thing he did.
500K -
If you had a frame of reference, like David did, you could figure this out.
MDQ - GREAT question. A couple of "it could be" answers, and a couple of "it
might, but probably not" answers. This was NOT a can of corn. This was a tough
question for a LOT of viewers.

Final judgment - Good mix, handily tackled.

I agree. I would have used a lifeline on this one. Not into Monster
Movies, and have never seen any Godzilla movie whatsoever. This was
very tricky, and was a challenging $64K Question.

I agree, but if you didn't study American History, this would've been
tough.

I was amazed that Mr. Goodman knew the answer to this one. I knew
that Sarah McLachlan founded the Lilith Fair tour, but didn't know
that the name itself had an origin until I saw the question.

>500K -

Good thing he pulled out that 104th reference, then thought out his
answer.

>MDQ - GREAT question. A couple of "it could be" answers, and a couple of "it

This was a great MDQ. The choices were very tough, and could've been
any one of them. Without help, or having never read a Paddington Bear
book, I think he would've walked. His strategy for his lifeline usage
was great, and from what I understand, was the first time that the ATA
was used for this question.

>Final judgment - Good mix, handily tackled.

For those of you that think that WWTBAM is getting easier, tonight's
stack should prove otherwise, even though there will be people that
will post and say that they knew every answer.

I thought that this was a really tough stack, probably neck and neck
in difficulty with Trela's. This guy had great mental recall, logic,
strategy, and flat-out guts. With that, those efforts have paid off.

Congratulations, David Goodman. You've definitely earned it, and
enjoy those seven figures!!

Now the world-wide count is at 8.

John Carpenter
Dan Blonsky
Joe Trela
Bob House
Kim Hunt
and now...David Goodman

If you're talking about their IQs, it would never work as a Fastest

He's the youngest Millionaire on WWTBAM. Wasn't Rahim Oberholtzer on 21 21 or
22?
