Did anyone get that week on tape? There were some absolutely HILARIOUS
moments there, like when everyone was attacking CNR for holding up the
game with the suspense.

Also, who is that Donald Ross guy?

I taped this episode on the 1am repeat last night. After I saw it the first
time I just had to tape it.

>Also, who is that Donald Ross guy?

Besides being Patti Deutsch's husband, I really don't know.

Question:  you say Donald "was" Patti's hubby and "was" a comedy writer.  Is he
no longer among the living?

I could have sworn someone had told us that the Rosses were still together,
making them just about the only couple to ever have appeared on Tattletales
that remains intact.

Am i misremembering?

U misread....I meant that at the time, they were married. They might still be married...Cat

They are not married anymore. The only couple that was on Tattletales that is
still married (neither death nor divorce) is:

Charlie Brill and Mitzi McCall

Claire and Scooey Mchell? I hope not....I want to take Claire home. :)
(I love mellow, strong women). Bill and Marcy Shatner were married until
96. Gene and Helen Rayburn...Bill and Anne Cullen...and Bobby Van and
Elaine Joyce were married until one of them died. Anne and Jerry are
still married...and still very active. The thing with Tattletales is
that u gotta remember that it was 25 years ago...thats a long time...Cat

Claire and Scoey divorced in 1992 and nothing has been heard from them ever
since.

Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller divorced in the late '80s, but often keep in touch
and remain very good friends.

The only couple (I know of) from Tattletales that is still married (neither
death nor divorce) are Charlie Brill and Mitzi McCall.

ME: I met Donald Ross and Patti Deutsch at a party about a year ago.
They were together that night.

I think Scoey Mitchlll (sp?) is deceased. (Or am I confusing him with Cleavon
Little?)

I believe Stiller & Meara are still married. Check
http://www.hollywood.com/movietalk/celebrities/bstiller/html/sound.html, under
"His parents' marriage" -- the RA clip says "They've been married for 45
years."

No, THEY are still together...just last fall I saw an article referring to
the irony that Jerry was being added to the cast of "King of Queens" while Anne
was replaced by Jill Clayburgh on "Trinity"(she looked too old to be the mother of
the actors playing her kids).

The info I've found indicates that Stiller and Meara were married in 1954, and
are still married to this day.

Bobby Van died of a brain tumor (I think) in 1981.

Here's a few thing I know about him. This is by no means a comprehensive
biography.

Bobby Van was born on Dec.6, 1930 (real name Bobby King Robert Stein) and died
in July of 1980. He was survived by his wife of many years, Elaine Joyce.

He appeared in the odd movie and TV program over a 30 year period, but mostly
he was a musical theater performer and choreographer.

His most notable movie role for him was (unfortunately) a part in the musical
disaster "Lost Horizon" (1973), thought of by many film buffs as the worst
movie musical of all time. He was also played the title roll in the film "The
Affairs of Dibie Gillis" (1953) which spawned the a TV show.

For game show buffs, he hosted the 1979 syndicated incarnation of "Make Me
Laugh."

Previously on a.t.g-s, sjim67 said about Bobby Van:

>For game show buffs, he hosted the 1979 syndicated incarnation of "Make Me

He also hosted "Showoffs" in 1975 (after Larry Blyden's untimely death) and
"The Fun Factory" in 1976 (with "Hill Street Blues'" Betty Thomas, "Just the
Ten of Us'" Deborah Harmon--a fellow Northern Illinois University graduate--me,
not Bobby--and the indelible Jane Nelson).

Mark Jeffries--all play, all day (Don't I wish!)

Thanks. Another person pointed out the same thing to me. I knew I would miss
some stuff.

Crazy thing is, as soon as someone mentioned it, I remembered "Fun Factory",
is was a very unorthodox game show for it's day, with actors playing parts and
such. I believe Bobby even sang the theme song live. Was this show erased too?
Damn shame if it was...

Believe me, you're not missing much. I thought Fun Factory was far from
"fun". On this ep., they had a chair rocking contest (with contestants
dressed as Whister's Mother) and a Q&A about fruit (with one of the
models wearing a Carmen Miranda type hat). It's not my idea of a good
time.

Oh well, my recollection of it being "unorthodox" was correct anyway. It
couldn't have been as bad as "Dollar a Second" though.

I guess this would be a good show for GSN to throw on as a one-shot "As Seen
On" kinda thing. Then again, maybe not... LOL

think that the Barris version just didn't work because the stunts were
pretty stupid, and the contestants were OBVIOUSLY actors, and the outside
events were questionable.

Actually, I think it's intact...GSN aired at least one ep.

They (GSN) probably won't air it again if they do because the show sucks and
nobody'd watch it. The Fun Factory is destroyed!
