The original Dawson syndie Feud didn't use returning champions. The Combs
syndie Feud did indeed have returning champs. I also say "original" because
there were also returning champions in Dawson's 1994 comeback.

Here's another question about Feud. The EOTVGS states that the Syndicated
version changed to the Bullseye format in September of 1992. I have only seen
Bullseye episodes from 1993-94. Was there anything different about 1992-93
Syndie Bullseye than 1993-94? Was the show called "New Family Feud" like it
was in 1993-94?
Bullseye does go back to 1992. And the show was the "New" FF during the
1992-93 season. I honestly think that those changes started sometime during
the 1991-92 season, but I haven't seen a Combs FF since it left the air in '94,
so my memory is obviously hazy.

They did have returning champions on the nighttime syndicated Combs shows.
Families could win for five shows from 1988-92, and an unlimited number of
shows from 1992-94(and the same with Dawson's 1994-95 season)

The Combs syndicated series did have returning champions.

IIRC, nothing Bullseye format-wise was different. As far as segment
format, in 1992-93, they'd do the introduction of the families before
playing Bullseye. The next season, Ray made his entrance, they'd
immediately start playing Bullseye and after the commercial, the family
members would be introduced.
> In the summer of 1992, I believe June or July the bullseye round was started on

It was June 29, 1992. I remember it like it was yesterday. I remember
watching it with a friend and prior to the show, WCAU in Philly was
airing promos for it. I was surprised to learn it was going to be a full
hour. I thought it made for some interesting programming; an hour of
Feud, followed by an hour of TPIR.
Then it came to the syndicated run that September. Hopefully I am
> correct on that.
Si, yes. You are correct.
The 1992-93 and 1993-94 Syndie seasons of Feud were played under precisely the
same format. After 1992-93, the CBS hour long Challenge version bit the dust.
The syndicated show was the New FF from 1992-94, and just called FF in 1994-95.
The Bullseye round began on CBS Daytime on June 23 1992, and on the Syndicated
Feud at the start of the 1992-93 season(9/14/92 start date)
