I know that basically every game show that Merrill Heatter produced solo or
with Bob Quigley before 1985 has been destroyed (except for the 1978-1981
sydicated version of the Peter Marshall-hosted Hollywood Squares), but does
ANYONE know how those pre-1985 game shows were destroyed? Was there a fire or
something? Just curious.

I believe NBC just destroyed the videotapes (reused them). ABC proabably
did the same thing - I know the 1971-1975 version of Password met the same
fate. I would have loved to see "Hollywood Squares," "High Rollers,"
"Gambit,"
or "Magnificent Marble Machine" again.

It amazes me G-T saved a copy of ust about everything they ever did, and H/Q
didn't.

Actually, it just so happens the networks who aired those shows were lacking
storage space.
