Struck me as soon as he said it. :)

A capsule submission was sent to futurama.simplenet.com as of Monday.

My favorite line was the reply to the question if the temperature was
Fahrenheit or Celsius...

"First one, then the other"...

And did everyone catch the explanation as to why the upper module of
the lunar lander was there? The little plaque reading "returned to
this site by the historical nit-picker society" or something like
that...

Hilarious. I have a feeling that this series is going to be more
like life in hell than the Simpsons was, even though the Simpsons'
characters are direct ripoffs of life in hell.

Speaking of love, one problem that recurs more and more frequently these days, in books and plays and movies, is the inability of people to communicate with the people they love; Husbands and wives who can't communicate, children who can't communicate with their parents, and so on. And the characters in these books and plays and so on (and in real life, I might add) spend hours bemoaning the fact that they can't communicate. I feel that if a person can't communicate, the very least he can do is to Shut Up! -- Tom Lehrer, "That Was the Year that Was"

Is "ripoff" a fitting term, considering they were created by the same guy?

Groening would've done a life in hell cartoon, but fox was to own whatever
characters were used for his animated bits... so, he decided to make up
the Simpsons, the rights to which he wouldn't mind giving up, since he was
too attached to the life in hell characters to turn ownership of them over
to fox.

Each epi so far has had at least a few that made me laugh out loud. On this
one my favorite was Fry's monologue cresting with "and space travel was just
a metaphor for beating his wife!" This might have something to do with my
recent viewings of some Peter Sellers movies, and my surprise at all the
casual racism in 60s entertainment, but I loved it.

Well that and Admiral Crunch / Archduke Chocula, but that might have been
ep. 1.

Regards,
Thom

I did not get that 'till you made me think about it.
