In today's National Enquirer it says Courteney has spent $1.2 million
on a Piccasso painting for David.

David: I like all kinds of art, especially Picasso and other weird
stuff like that.

Courteney: Im told its got a guy with yellow hair and one hand.

This shows Courteney has more money then sense, and the pair of them
know as much about fine art as I do.

Courteney said, "I'm TOLD it's got a guy. . . " ? You mean she bought this
"personal" gift for her husband through someone else? I'm glad I'm not
rich. I personally do things for people that mean something to me.

I'll re-read the little article when I go to the newsagent in 10
minutes for my Sunday newspaper-Sunday Telegraph.

Yes, the article said that she put in the winning bid at an action in
London, don't know if she was over here or not to do it.

> I'm glad I'm not

Why? I wish I was, and I mean not normal rich but seriously rich,
somewhere near or equal to Gate$ level.

>I personally do things for people that mean something to me.

Me to, and I usually buy presents that are relevant, and not like
Courteney did and spash out on someone who probably wouldn't know a
Renoir from a Ruben's no more then I would.

Right, I checked the article again and I miss worded it.

Courteney: "He likes all kinds of art, especially Picasso's and fancy
stuff like that."

and

"Ive been told its of a big yellow guy with no hair and one big hand"

So it appears Courteney got someone to bid for the painting, and she
wasn't in London, and probably did it over the phone. Imagine her
thought process, "I wonder what I can get David as a present as he's
been so well behaved for a long time, hmm...I know I'll get him a
Picasso as "He likes all kinds of art, especially Picasso's and fancy
stuff like that.", she asks an arty friend to suggest to her one, and
he/she knowing David weird tastes, knows of this one going up for sale
in London, mentions it and Courteney says YES, thats the one, David
will love it. As I mentioned she apparently has at times more money
then sense. :(

As I said the two of them know as much about fine art as I do, and I
dout David wouldn't know a Renoir from a Ruben's anymore then I would.

It isn't really a problem, I suppose. It just seemed odd to me that she
didn't bother to buy her husband a gift in person. She had someone else buy
it. On the other hand, a person doesn't just walk into Target (or any other
regular store) and order an original Picasso painting.

Although it would have been interesting to read that she had flown to London
to bid on the piece herself, it does seem a bit extreme considering her
schedule and the fact that there was no guarantee she would submit the
winning bid.

Btw, I'd actually LOVE to be filthy rich myself, but since that probably
isn't going to happen, I consciously wrap myself in a world where not being
rich makes me a better person. On the other hand, perhaps I would become a
complete jerk if I came into a large sum. ;-)

They certainly come across as nouveau riche dummies.

Courtney has a lot of money these days. The cost of that painting is
only slightly more than she makes for an episode. (After taxes, make
that two episodes.)

We can only hope that the former owners of the painting use the money
to cure cancer.

I dout for someone who 'likes Picassos' he'd know a genuine Picasso
from a fake, and she has more money then sense at times.

Dosn't Los Angles have art gallerie shops, where you can buy fine art?

Thats explains Bill Gate$ personality then. ;)

Hi all,

Since you say it's a small article, can anyone who has it please write
it here?
I would understand if David Arquette says it, but i still can't
believe Courteney would say something like that.
Maybe they wanted to make her look bad. It's the Enquirer after all.

Anyway, someone please post it.
Bye

Wouldn't you like to spend a week's pay on a present for your wife?

Especially if in a few years time it will be worth two weeks' pay?

No. Courteney probably coughed up the $1.2million because David had
been behaving himself for a while, and there's been no arguments.

>Especially if in a few years time it will be worth two weeks' pay?

Says who? Fine art tends to be valued according to the demand for
that particular artist. If I was seriously rich, I wouldn't give a
Picasso wall space, as to me it isn't my taste in fine art.
