NILES AND DAPHNE

I don't know what's up with Frasier's writers but here's my 2 cents on the
whole Niles/Daphne thing:
1. Lately this season there have been several Niles/Daphne episodes, even 2 in
a row, unusual for Frasier
2. I read the spoiler in "Visions Of Daphne" and was quite intrigued.
3. Niles is now divorced and has been so for awhile. While he was married, it
was a good reason for them not to get together, but of course now that isn't
stopping Niles.
4. I see it as being rather unlikely that Donnie and Daphne get married. It
seems to me that if they do, they would have to add Donnie as one of the main
characters.
5. Niles has been in love with Daphne for over 6 years. Although I hear he is
getting involved in another relationship, I don't see Niles falling in love
with another woman. He seems pretty much a one woman man to me, and he
worships Daphne far too much I think for him to fall for another woman.
6. Roz knows about it now, and we all know what a gossip she is. Besides, he
almost indirectly told Daphne last episode when she started to say how Niles
was always looking at Daphne's butt.
7. Niles I think will get to a point where either he is so fed up emotionally
that he will force himself to tell her or have to separate himself from her
more or less permanently and unless either character leaves the show, I don't
see how it will happen.
8. Donnie is nothing compared to Niles. Sure she thinks he is a gentleman and
all but isn't Niles even more so? Also, remember the scene in his office and
what a slob he was? Could you see Daphne putting up with that? Donnie is a
pretty bland character I think.
9. I think while Daphne may not know the whole thing, she's no idiot. I think
she has at least some idea about Niles' feelings. Besides she did hear the
part about how Niles was in love with her during the marriage to maris. (more
later

I still think the most interesting thing about the Niles/Daphne storyline is
trying to figure out how and why Daphne would start feeling "that way" about
Niles. She obviously cares about him beyond "he's over all the time and he's
the boss' brother." Daphne actually starting to fall in love with Niles beyond
just being flattered he felt "that way" about her for 6 years would be quite a
story. The biggest obstacle for Daphne would be (unfounded) guilt feelings
that she was responsible for breaking up Niles' marriage to Maris.
I doubt finally getting Niles and Daphne together will hurt the show. We'll
still have Frasier, Martin, Roz and Eddie to kick around.

Actually, I like Donnie. I like that he's a cut throat lawyer who likes cuddles
babies and seems to enjoy making other people happy.
