"Dinner: Impossible" chef Robert Irvine has been fired from the Food
Network's kitchen!
After it was discovered that Robert lied about having designed
Princess Diana's wedding cake, Food Network honchos investigated the
situation and today released a statement saying they "have not renewed
Robert's contract for future seasons" and "will be looking for a
replacement host."
Robert apologized for his actions adding, "I was wrong to exaggerate
in statements related to my experiences regarding the Royal Family."

I liked both him and his show. It was one of the few gimmick-
competition shows on Food Network that was both fun and, in its own
somewhat limited way, informative. At the time of the show's
premiere, some posters on this forum praised Food Network for hiring
an honest-to-goodness chef for once (ironic, I know).
He's got nobody but himself to blame for his downfall, of course. The
network had no choice but to fire him if they were to maintain any
semblance of credibility and integrity. A shame, but an appropriate
end result for a career built largely on lies.
What puzzles me now is what HAS this guy done? Does he have any chef
credentials at all or is his entire resume a fabrication? Pretty
amazing that he was able to land a network gig without some
confirmation of his past work record.

Um
This *is* the channel that presents Sandra Lee as a cook.

Well...yeah, okay. I didn't consider her because I avoid her at all
costs. Unless I'm in the mood for some perverse laughs.

I hesitantly agree -- just because I find serious fault with RR's stuff.
And certainly, RR could never be accused of being budget friendly with her
huge steaks etc.
It's a good thing we all have different views so the world continues to go
round ;o}

LOL. Touche.
Oh no, Sandra Lee's not lazy. Culinarily talentless, yes. But she's
taken the things she does know and finagled them into megabucks --
admirably crafty. And if the viewing public is willing to accept her
doggie paddle as water ballet, it's money in the bank for her.

It's a set of plastic forms over and through which one may weave their

I agree with this but will add that the remainder of SL's target
demographic are people who believe that what she and they are doing
really is cooking.

Hideous. Her show and her talents are straight out of the Ina Garten
mold, but with her own patronizing "You people need to be shown how to
do the simplest things" vibe.
At first sight he reminded me of the Monty Python animation in which the
98 pound weakling takes the Charles Atlas body building course -- the
"after" demonstration shows a pair of arms inflated 'til they explode!
Yes, it is too bad for everyone that "our military victory" has failed.

> I don't know what Kurtan Kraft was. I can't recall ever hearing about it.
It was a homegrown device to make simple panels of fabric "fake" the
appearance of professionally made draperies, particularly those puffy
ones. Again, that biography I saw showed her as a college aged student
working her ass off to take this curtain appliance to state fairs to
sell it and finally using her hardgained savings fortune to buy time
slot on one of those shopping network channels where she struck gold.
There was no rich man "wallet" involved in her early fortune. It was all
her own hard work.
I don't know if a "wallet" since that time gave her more exposure, but
it was obviously her own hard work that kicked her off.

IIRC, according to the bio, there was no wallet. She's never been
married. (rolls eyes)

What's really too bad is that people still keep hitting the same troll
bait, day after day.

No, we're saying "woman has lame ideas; woman marries filthy rich
sponsor; woman gets TV show; filthy rich sponsor dumps her for Martha
Stewart; woman writes bio ignoring filth rich husband and claiming to be
totally self made" doesn't ring true.
Yeah, that is tough. But it is better to light a single candle
than to curse the darkness.

We know the dates close enough. Marries Wallet, gets show.

The wallet dumped her to team up with Martha Stewart. Literally.

We don't care that she got the show -- the show is hysterical. It's
just annoying she's lying about HOW she got it, but in the end, that's
pretty funny too.

No ire from me. I just want to get my turn to do so.

Where has she "lied" on how she ever got it or discussed the FoodTV show
in particular? I know how she got the QVC show-she bought it herself
with her own hard earned money!
I laugh about her "tricks" as much as the next guy, but I'll give her
respect for her own hard work and accomplishments too.

If you know the dates, then cite a reference for proof. Wallet would have
to have been around since before 1989 in order to make the difference you
are stating. Without that you are simply being irrational and looking very
envious.
Janet
Exactly as I initially stated.
Janet
You do realize she's an incompetent joke, and we're laughing at her,
don't you?

And I join in on the laughter for the most part...but what I am trying
to say is that after learning where she came from, how she worked her
self up (no help from a man in those early years) and found success on
her own with that curtain idea of hers (again, no man involved) my
admiration for her grew. It almost made sense her logic in using all
those packaged goods. She certainly doesn't need to continue to do so in
her own life (she can afford a well stocked pantry now!) but perhaps
she's just showing poor college students (as she was) how to put
together something other than fast food wrappers and survive?
They'd be better off eating the wrappers. Literally.
Maybe that's the next filler line on his bio for his next job.
-ginny
What really fried my grits was catching her as I was flipping through the
channels on the 700 Club (Pat Robertson's venue) telling all and sundry that
she was 'inspired to write her bio' just for the Christian audience and how
her shows are 'for Jesus'.........is there nothing this woman won't stop at.
I admit, she is enterprising, to get herself as far as she has with the
'talent' she has, but come on.....a show where she puts down more alcohol
than the Galloping Gourmet did in his sloshed days....and she says she's
'doing it for Jesus'..........please. I understand that she is whoring her
product (her shows, her book, her 'cookbooks', etc) but somewhere underneath
most whores have some sense of right and wrong, and this is just plain
wrong.
-ginny
Ewww. She's nothing like Ina. Ina cooks. Robin creates leftovers.
Yes. That was the point that laughing turned to loathing.

Who cares, if he's not currently a drug dealer?

Probably promote him to head of sales.

What's the problem? Were the drugs not good?
And who's Charles Holbrook?

She married some guy who is mega in the planned community/home
building/real estate development genre - who is currently a partner of
Martha Stewart - something like B & D Homes, or such. He and SLop are
divorced.
