The real problem is that most people cannot stick to a starvation diet.
The whole "low fat diet" craze in the nutritional community was a bad
joke.
As far as I can tell, a high-calorie low-carb diet is better in the long
term than a high-calorie diet full of refined carbohydrates. But it is
hard to get disciplined studies (and therefore valid information), due to
the extreme bias of most researchers.
