Okay, I've done it, again. I've lost a story that I want to read. It's
got Johnny and Roy trapped in a building (yeah, I know! I'll narrow it
down!). Roy is pinned under a beam and uses his helmet to fish for the
HT. He doesn't know where Johnny is until he hears Johnny coughing and
realizes that he's buried just feet from him.

Thanks!

Ya know, we need a master list of all of the fanfic stories out there at least by
TITLE. I hunt all the time for various ones recommended to me...way too many fanfic
sites out there to keep track. Some people have lists, but they aren't alpha by title
and you still have to hunt. Anybody wanna start ONE master title page?

Ok, my favorites - so far. If you're a Johnny angst or a Johnny/Roy relationship fan,
you HAVE to read these.

#1 Spirit in the Wind
#2 Missing in Action
#3 Johnny's Fate
#4 Where's Johnny?
#5 Victims (Rebecca B version. Caution: may be too severe for some)
#6 The Trap

So what do you guys recommend??

My favorite fanfic story was "Vintage Gage". It's found on the KMG-365
website.

www.fanrealm.com/kmg365/

And Sue, I'm like you, I don't want to even go there....LOL......and I've even
bought a couple of zines.

Well, I don't think I've read quite as much as you, but I know I've read an
awful lot. I have a recommendation, but it's really more of a whole set of
stories than one in particular. There is a site called "Squad 51, Where Are
You?" that has some great regular stories, but there is also a section for
Drabbles, which are stories and poems of exactly 100 words. When I was
browsing around the site, I kept ignoring that section, thinking it sounded
kind of silly (I know how that must sound coming from the officer of
limE!ricks, LOL, but this came before that). Late one evening I got curious
enough to check it out, and was amazed at what could be done in such a limited
space. In fact, it impressed me enough that I sat down that very same evening
and made my first and only foray into fanfiction by creating a Drabble of my
own. I wouldn't call it my best writing ever, but considering the fact I'd
never tried anything even close to that short before, it turned out okay.

The url for the site is : http://squad51wru.tvheaven.com

Sue,

"Heart of 51" is pretty cool...and kinda daring. It's got a lot of
romance stuff but great plots.

How about saying where those stories are and who wrote them so we don't
have to hunt? :-) (knowing who wrote what both gives the writer credit,
and makes them easier to find - some sites list stories by author.)
I am a fanfic site owner in this fandom, so I'll admit to being biased
about what my favorites are. And I like Brice (I know I'm strange) so
there's a page on my site that lists some of my favorite stories - both
on and off my site - that use the character. I'm also a big angst fan. A
few of my favorite stories, in no particular order are:

1. 'Star Quilt' by Rose Po - Code Red Site,
http://members.aol.com/marymorris/ Heavy angst - bring kleenex. I love
Rose's writing. She has a unique viewpoint on the characters and handles
angles that other writers don't think of.
2. 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Reality' by Linda Jeffrey -
Station 51 site, http://home.earthlink.net/~station51/index.html#home
Probably THE funniest story in the fandom. You can't go wroing with
Linda's stories, ever. Don't read with a drink in your hand.
3. 'The Buzz' by Jeff Morris, Jeff's Wide World of Fanfic,
http://members.aol.com/morrisjeff/rgb/ Yes, this IS my husband's story,
so I'm biased and I'll admit it.
4.'The Inspection' and 'The Aftermath' by Pat Embury, Code Red Site
(originally on Jane Wood's KMG365) Pat is a good, solid writer - another
one you can't go wrong reading. These two stories go together, and she
does an excellent job with them. The suspense in the first one had me on
the edge of my seat!
5.'How Do You Mend a Broken Proscenium' by Linda Jeffrey, Station 51
site. I can't possibly describe this. If you read a LOT of fanfic, this
one's for you.
6. 'Just a Cold' by CJ Smith, Station 51 site - one of the earliest
Johnny h/c pieces and still one of the best.
7. ANY of Carol Boyke's 'Chet and Sandy' series - Jonesie's site
http://jonesie.tvheaven.com/emergency.htm. Carol is a fantastic writer
and a very gifted artist as well. These are great if you're looking for
drama and romance, she works it all together incrediblly well.

This fandom has a lot of fantastic stories and writers in it. I could
think of tons more stories, pages, and writers to pick as 'favorites'
but then this post would be huge! It makes owning one of the fanfic
pages a joy. There are so many pages, there's always something new and
fun to read.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I generally prefer the adventure to the serious
romance but I'm always ready to look. :-)

I agree with you, that's a site I check frequently. They've got some
seriously wonderful stuff! :-) Including the Drabbles. :-)

<g> I checked. I've got almost 100Megs of E! related material. <eep>

'Vintage Gage' is one of my favorites. Very well done, and it's been revised
recently and is even smoother.

I would have put the authors and URLs, but that's kind of the point...i don't know. I
know the stories I like by title, but I'd have to hunt through all the sites to find
them again and just didn't have the time last night. Since I offered these, I'll find
their locations and repost so others might enjoy them too. We need a search engine or
something to weed through them all!

Thanks for putting a couple of your favorites up there too!

Here you go, Jean. Don't ask how I know these (okay, you can ask ...)
... too much time on my hands, lol? No, actually, many of these are
also on my favorites list (which I affectionately call my
"mindblowers" list), and I just happened to have noted where they
were, in order to keep visiting the host sites for more.

Might I also suggest:

Victor of Wars by Cheryl McGowan
(this one will turn you upside down and inside out; a very dark ride,
but worth the trip. On Mary's Code Red site):
http://members.aol.com/morrisjeff/codered/victorof.html

Anything and everything by Rose Po? Incredible work. Her
classics are at Mary's Code Red site:
http://members.aol.com/morrisjeff/codered/

Firestorm by Jane Woods on her KMG365 Station 18 site (a
remarkable series in and of itself and all are worth the read):
http://www.fanrealm.com/kmg365/18stories.htm

There are SO many excellent stories out there. This will get you
started. And to all you WONDERFUL site owners and authors, a rousing
THANK YOU from an avid fanfic reader. There are some incredible
writers in our group; just amazingly good stuff out there.

Thank you SO much for taking the time to hunt these down...and for adding a few
goodie ones yourself. I am constantly amazed at the skill, imagination and talent
these writers possess, and we all reap the rewards. I thank them all for sharing
their talents with us!

If you haven't read fan fic, get going with the ones below, then look at the sites
and see what else interests you. It's great fun!

Thanks again, Patty!

Hi, everyone!
I'm looking for a story, too, and my usually excellent Google-Fu is failing me.
I first read it just a few weeks ago via a link at emergencyfans.net.
When I went to look at it again a few days ago, the link is now broken.
The story was titled "Emergency! 2000" Johnny is an arson investigator with L.A. and Roy has moved to the Pacific Northwest. He returns to L.A. for an awards ceremony, and the hotel where the event is to be held is the latest target of the arsonist Johnny's investigating.
The link that the page went to looked like a personal blog page, though I don't recall much about the details; however, despite the fact that a lot of the stories were Station 18, the site was /not/ KMG365.
Does anyone have a copy of this saved, or have any ideas about how to track it down?
It was really well paced and I'd love a chance to read it again.

Thanks, and thanks for this group!

Found it! Apparently, the link title (Emergency!2000) is not the actual title.
Turns out it is Reunion and it /is/ by Jane Woods.
linky: http://web.archive.org/web/20080207182704/www.worldweave.net/jane/kmg365/reunion.htm
on the slim chance any of you haven't read it.
