I've just finished series one (3 episodes series 2) on vid. Was the death of
Boon planned all along, or did the actor playing his part wish to leave?
Does series 2 get better or is it pants throughout?

I have seen every single epiosode of EFC in seasons 1, 2 & 3! I thought S1 has
been the best so far, but I like S2. I thought it was "fairly good" myself even
though I had already seen every single episode of the first season.
I can spell and I have a college degree! I also post on the Sphere and I can
tell you that there are a lot of fans of S1 who can dish out criticism, but
can't take any criticism.
I began defending S2 because I thought that the intelligence and taste of S2
fans was being insulted in a rude and thoughtless manner. Even some S1 fans
have warned we against posting here because of the rudeness and insults here. I
also thought the criticism was too severe.

I have read a few S2 vs S3 but I haven't seen any criticism for season
1 vs season 2 (yet).

I think it is a matter of different tastes that draw people to the
same show. Hearing someone's opinions on a few other areas lets a
person know what "side of the fence" the other is on. For instance-
what other scifi shows (episodes) did you think were/are "cool"? (Look
earlier the the group for my Trek "Tribble" vs "Space Seed" message for
a description of this effect)?
Of course diversity, as they say, is the spice of life. So all
opinions are valid even if outnumbered :)

Before you buy.
You probably haven't been posting here long. You should have been here last
year. The criticism of Liam has been brutal.
I was not critcising everyone here. There are many people who have written
extremely thoughtful and intelligent posts that I had to admire even when I
disagreed with them.
The criticism of the producers is MORE than warranted.

It HIGHLY doubtful that the actor will return.
The Character might be another issue.

I'm pretty sure the death of Boone was not something that was planned from the
start of the series. (I also don't believe this about the departure of
Sinclair in BABYLON 5. TV series just don't start out with the idea that the
lead actor/character will vanish part way through the series. What do you do
if the character who's slated to go turns out to be a huge popular hit?) One
of the EFC producers has been reported saying that there were major problems
with actor Kevin Kilner's attitude and his treatment of other cast and crew
members during season 1. I don't know the truth of this, but it seems to be
the closest we have to an "official" explanation.
As for season 2 getting better, unlike many on this board, though I thought
season 2 started out not as good as season 1, I never thought it was a complete
waste of celluloid; however, in any case, I thought there was a definite
improvement toward the latter part of season 2 (and that season 3 has been
pretty good overall-- though see another post I'm going to make for my worries
about season 4). As always, Your Mileage May Vary.
Uh, William. I'm not going to reply to that insult with something equal
to it only because it's not appropriate to a public forum. I can spell
and write just fine. I am not stupid or backwards because I happen to
like Liam just as much as Boone (granted - Liam neededed a lot more
thought before the writers hired an inexperienced actor and shoved an
unworkable part to him).
1) I started out with "Decision" - Act 1, Scene 1.
2) Due to some nasty mix-ups (the show switched timeslots and
stations), I went from "Secret of Strandhill" to "Redemption." After
finding out the whole, sad story behind Liam, and learning of Boone's
demise, I went to work trying to puzzle out the new lead.
3) I liked S2 as much as S1. S3...don't really like.
4) A lot of Liam fans don't want to post here! A voice of support for
the character is instantly met with a flamethrower. It gets old.
