Colin O'Donnell (ShawnD) is the pits. He's pathetic. I kind of feel bad
for dissing a 13/14 year old, but there's no sense in giving false
hope to the kid. Why am I bringing this up?

Well, as I was just flipping the channels, I caught the last two minutes
of The Hung and The Restless. Nina's son, who is about 8 or 9, comes out
of his room to tell his daddy (don't know the dad's name but it's
Melissa Reeves husband) that he just can't trust him to come home now
that his daddy has walked out of their lives once before. I'm telling
y'all, this kid's performance BLEW ME AWAY. In 60 seconds he did more
great acting than Colin O'Donnell has in the 2 and a half years i've
watched DOOL. This kid was so good, i'm tempted to find out what his
name is. He's going to be a major presence in Hollywood one day.

Somebody please do something about Colin O'Donnell. It's embarrassing
and sad to watch.

From the day he was on the show I figured he MUST be related to one of
the writer's. Now I am convinced of it. How else could a total
monotone keep his job? Wouldn't they send any other kid to some
kind of school to teach him to act?? Or replace him? He must not have
had to audition. 'Surely he had to be one of the chosen ones.'
Sounds like the writer's choice to me. duh!!!!!

A few years ago, when I heard they were replacing Scott Groff as Shawn D, I
was so relieved. I couldn't take much more of his "Papa! Papa!" without
losing my mind. Unfortunately, they only traded one bad child actor for
another, which is a shame because there are so many talented young actors
out there.

Someone may have already mention this, but I think they are grooming him to be
the next "Austin". I think he is maturing into a handsome young lad and in a
few more years his acting ability will on par of that "Austin's". And he will
become daytime's newest hunk.

I heard Scott did the voice to the evil next door neighbor boy (the toy
torturer) in Toy Story. If so, that took a lot of talent. It was a well
done character.

I totally agree with this. It seems like every Shawn D they have ever had has
sucked. I have no idea how many they have had, but it seemed like more than
two. I think the best of the kid actors on Days was Nicky Alamain. I liked
that kid.

He's not very good, but there was an actor years ago who played Frankie's
brother, Max who was much worse.

I really liked Scott Groff & hated to see him go. Papa was
entirely in character if you ask me.

Perhaps it was in character. But after so many years, I just began to dread
even seeing the boy, because he said it EVERY time he saw Bo, or so it
seemed. I really don't think he was much of an actor, but that's just my
opinion :)

I agree that Colin O'Donnell is a pretty bad actor. But the writers are
worse...all they can have the poor kid say is: "are we going to be a family
again?" Give me a break!!! I'll scream if I hear that one again.

Then he shouldn't have any problems performing his lines, should he? The
scene I referred to on Y and R is an almost carbon copy of what ShawnD's
situation is. The only difference is that this little 8 year old boy
acted circles around Colin O'Donnell. He made his lips quiver, his eyes
water; his whole facial expression that of sadness. Colin O'Donnell, on
the other hand, has one expression: monotone.

I think Scott had potential, but the lines they gave him and stuff they made
him do was ridiculous. That "Papa" thing made me crazy. Worse than that,
remember when he was dressed up as a "PIXIE"??? That was bad.

Have to agree with you Rabbit. Talk about a bad actor. Scott was bad to start
with and never improved. Although Colin is no Tom Hanks (see previous post), I
don't think he's all that bad.

They started giving him ridiculous & lame lines, etc. about
the time that they dumbed down the rest of the show, sure, I
remember it well. <G>

I too think the writers will have Sean D disappear for awhile and bring him
back much older and wiser. Also, he's getting a little old to be called
"sailor man" by Bo. Most kids his age wouldn't appreciate that. The writers
should give Sean D more lines to say than "will we ever be a family again".
They've made his character tremendously boring and totally predictable.

I think that it is kind of harsh for any of us to say that Colin O' Donnell
is a pathetic actor. I think the WRITERS are pathetic for giving this poor
kid hardly any lines except the cyclic, borring "Are we ever going to be a
family again??" DAYS gives special treatment to the younger child actors,
it's really sad. They gave Belle a whole poison candy storyline, and Will
a lost child (and possibly a custody battle) story line. Sean D. gets
nothing, except a drugs at school storyline that focused more on the
criminals than on the kid. The 1st original actor, Scott Groft, that
played Sean Douglas for several years and won a soap award for it, was a
killer actor for such a young boy.

This kid just needs a chance, I wish they'd give it too him. He always is
helping his Grandparents or complaining like a parrot about his errant
father's deabeat dad attitude. He was good today when he said "You'd think
Dad would show up for the family picnic!" I was sad that it took a kid to
remind Hope of that, and not an adult, and then like a co-dependent dumbell
she goes and sticks up for the jerk!! I wanted to spit on the television at
her stupidity, I was glad that Colin finally spoke up!! They ought to give
this kid a chance, before we give up on his ability to come through for
this character. Shame on the writers, not on the kid. Maybe Mike's kid,
Jeremy will come back from Israel and the 2 cousins can kick some butt in
this crummy little town!!!

Days is not a storyline about people under the age of 16 in general and I am
not interested in the writers making it so. I am always conscious of the
little actors faces because they never share the emotions of what is going
on in the scenes or even relate to their "parent."
My children are now grown but I use to love to just hold them when they
were little so I am uncomfortable when I see Sami or Austin holding their
baby and the poor kids eyes are roaming everyplace but on their parent.

You've hit on it. It's not just his voice. His whole face seems as though it
has no muscles. When he tries to smile, it's like a conscious effort. Painful
to watch.

True, he has bad lines to say, but he says them badly! I know of many child
actors who, given the same lines (scant though they are), could at least
make them believable.

Anna Pacquin won an Oscar at age 11. There's plenty examples of
sterling child actors. You just won't find O'Donnell's name among
them.

I started off this thread waaaaaaay back when to illustrate the
disparity of O'Donnell's talent as compared to a little boy I saw on Y
and R. The younger boy, clearly 6 years younger than O'Donnell, ran
acting circles around O'Donnell. Even the boy's teddy bear and pet dog
Spot did a better job than O'Donnell.

I have a feeling O'Donnell will be saying a lot of "Would you like
fries with that?" in the future. Good riddance to an awful actor.
