Hello! I'm looking for the help of all you Days historians!!

I'm involved with the Huntington's Disease Society of America. Several people
have told me over the years that Huntington's Disease played a role in the plot
of one episode many years ago or was part of the story line. More specifically
they remember that Brian Schofield (I hope, in fact, he's a character!) said he
was at risk of getting Huntington's Disease to someone he was interested in. Do
you recall this? Can you remember with more detail?

Any help you can give me is appreciated!!

Thanks!

In alt.tv.days-of-our-lives on 09 Jun 1998 00:49:41 GMT,

Reposting as is to add in crosspost to RATSm. During 1990-92 Brian was
indeed a DOOL character, the son of Vern Scofield & brother to Tanner
Scofield. And, his portrayer Robert Mailhouse is the drummer in
DogStar (which is most commonly known as Keanu Reeve's band. I can't
think of anything about Huntington's Disease, but at the moment all I
can think of is a previous storyline about Hodgkins Disease, so if my
mental palate clears I may post again.

I don't recall it on Days, but Huntington's *was* a storyline on LA Law.

Hi, Jim...
Well, on yahoo DAYS chat past few days, I've picked the brains of
some many-years DAYS fans and none of can figure out what character
Brian Scofield played on DAYS!! If you could furnish this info...
his DAYS character....maybe it would ring a bell to all of us
long-time DAYS fans.
I recall that at one time, Matthew Ashford, who played Jack, a
long time ago, had a disease that was very serious but he went into
remission and it never flaired up again...could have been Hunting-
ton's, not sure.
Anyway, not giving up, still looking..but hope you reply to me
regarding what DAYS character Brian Schofield played...

Brian Scofield started, if I remember, as a bit player working for the Salem
police department. I think he got his own story line which involved Melissa
Horton. I don't remember too much more, I was working outside the house at
that time.

I know MA's Jack had a disease, but I can't remember if it was Huntington's
or something else. I think I remember he was treated for it and had to go
back regularly to check for recurrence. Just my fuzzy memory, but I do
remember Brian Scofield was a detective for the Salem PD.

Brian was a character, not an actor. He was the son of Vern who worked for
Jack at the Spectator. (Vern went off with Jack, Adrian and Patch's mother to
Texas.) He also had a brother Tanner (can't for the life of me remember his
name) who went on to play in the series Sliders. As far as I recall, neither
Brian, nor the actor who played him, had Huntington's Disease. As Pat said,
Jack had Hodgekins Disease but it misteriously disappeared.

No, Tanner wasn't on Sliders. He was on VR5. Tanner, played by Michael
Easton, was also the um...well-endowed hunk on Ally McBeal. ;)

Well, those yahooligans aren't too swift. Brian Scofield was a character. He
took off with Ginger, Molly's mother (and her dog, whom I loved--what was her
name, Martha?)

Michael Easton: DOOL as Tanner Scofield, VR.5 as Duncan, TWO as both

So, who is it on SLIDERS that you are thinking of?

Michael Easton was also on 'Two" It was a show about twin brothers.
One good and one bad. He played both. It was on in the middle of the
night here. I never missed a show. It was really good.

Jack had Hodgkin's Disease, the type of cancer Charlie had on Party of Five. I
don't remember Brian having any disease, he wasn't a major character.

Bonbon,

Well, the only one I can think of that you're referring to is Jerry O'Connell,
who also played a football player in Jerry Maguire. The other white male was
John Rhys-Davies, who played Sallah in Raiders of the Lost Ark. That's all the
white males. (Well, at least this week!) Maybe you're thinking of another
show?

I think you must just have the 2 shows mixed up. They both are SF/F &
both have to do with moving from one reality into another, VR.5 from
reality to a Virtual Reality and SLIDERS from one parallel dimension
to another.

I think his illness miraculously vanished. I remember that he still had it

RE: Hodgdkin's Disease. Brian Scofield didn't have it, Jack did, but it
went in remission. That was way back when Matthew Ashford played Jack and
Melissa Reeves played Jennifer. It was around the time that Abby was born,
because Jack was concerned that the disease might be passed on to the baby.
The guy that played Brian was on Seinfeld a while back. It was funny.
Elaine tried to convince him not to be gay anymore because she had a big
crush on him and they were friends. ( Of course he never fell for her.) It
was neat to see Brian again. And Tanner Scofield (Michael Easton) was on 2
episodes of Ally McBeal this season, as well as appearing on the show
"Sliders" for a while before it was cancelled. Sure do miss those two!!
